Accelerate toward Excellence!
Georgia Milestones
Middle Academy Families
We are writing to inform you that the Georgia Milestones Assessment (GMAS) for scholars in grades 3rd and 5th begins next week. This is a very important time for our scholars as they showcase what they’ve learned throughout the year.
📌 Attendance & Timeliness
Please make every effort to ensure that your child arrives on time each day. Testing will begin promptly after breakfast and morning announcements. Scholars must be in their classrooms by 8:15 AM. If your child arrives after that time, they will not be allowed to enter the testing session and will be scheduled for make-up testing at 1:00 PM. Please note that if your scholar is testing in the afternoon, they cannot be pulled for early checkout once testing has started.
Morning testing sessions are scheduled to end around 10:30–11:00 AM. As such, no scholars will be permitted to check out early for dismissal during the testing period. We ask that you please schedule all doctor’s appointments, travel, or other activities for the week after testing concludes. Your support is essential to making sure scholars are focused and present during this critical time.
💙 A Special Note for 3rd Grade Families
This will be the first time your child is participating in GMAS testing. We understand that this may bring feelings of excitement, nervousness, or both. Please remind your scholar that they are ready, they are capable, and they are not alone. We will support them every step of the way.
🧠 Testing Tips for Success
Help your scholar do their best by making sure they:
- Get a good night’s rest before each testing day.
- Eat a healthy breakfast (we also provide breakfast at school!).
- Arrive at school on time and with a positive mindset.
- Bring a book to read after testing (no electronics allowed during testing).
- Understand that all we ask is for them to try their very best!
