Mrs. King's 1st-grade class also won the Golden Trash Can Award for the cleanest room. Keep up the outta this world behavior, Comets!
3rd Grade Gobbles Up Reflex Math
Third-grade students in Mrs. Deimel and Mrs. Cracchiolo’s classes spent the month of November “Gobbling up their Reflex progress”. To improve the completion of their Reflex green lights, students were challenged to fill their classroom turkey (see picture below). Each time a student completed a green light on their Reflex math program, they could fill in a square on the turkey. If the students filled in all the squares before Thanksgiving break they knew they would receive a pajama and movie day. Both classes got to work immediately. Students gave it their all focusing during class time to complete their green lights. Some students even went above and beyond by getting their green light done before coming to school. Both classes completed their challenge with just a few days to spare, and enjoyed their reward before leaving for Thanksgiving break!

Change in Learning Modes
At this time, families are able to request to change the learning mode for their student(s) for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. Students who are currently attending school in-person in can switch to virtual, and students who are enrolled in virtual can switch to in-person. If you do not wish to switch your child’s learning mode, no action is necessary.
Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Submitting the form linked in this email does not guarantee a request will be granted. Requests will be reviewed by building and district leadership and the parent/guardian will be notified. If approved, the change will be effective for the second semester (January 6, 2025 - June 6, 2025).
Please carefully consider this semester-long commitment before submitting this application, as requests to change during the second semester will not be granted. However, the District may change your child’s learning mode if appropriate academic progress is not met throughout the semester.
If you are interested in changing your child’s learning mode for the second semester, please fill out this application. You will need to submit one request for each student.
Twain Parking Lot Reminders
The North lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for parking only. We MUST keep the loop open for busses and emergency vehicles. This rule applies to everyone, so please be cooperative and follow it.
The large, central lot has two lanes: a drop-off/ pick-up lane on the outside of the loop and a driving lane on the inside.
Please note: Drivers MAY NOT get out of your car while in the outside drop-off/ pick-up lane. Your students must exit to the outside of the loop, and drivers must not exit the car to walk students up or pick them up. If you have younger children who need to be walked up or picked up at the door, you MUST park your car in one of the lots or on the street.
Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please do NOT swear on school grounds. We are trying to set a positive example for behavior for our Twain Comets, and shouting and swearing at other drivers does not set the right example for our kids. We ask our students to be respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe, and we expect those behaviors to be modeled by our parents, too.
