News from Mr. Culbreth
Warrior Family,
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday season. Every year, it seems that we blink and half of the year is behind us. I look forward to all of the great activities upcoming this Spring at LMS.One MAJOR change is the implementation of the optional Early Dismissal on Wednesday afternoons. This will allow our teachers to collaboratively plan to provide the best education possible for our students. This procedure has been shown to be highly effective at our high schools and we look forward to seeing the impact it will have at our school as well. As a reminder, students will be permitted to leave school at 2:30 every Wednesday with (1) a signed permission slip, (2) passing grades in all classes, and (3) good behavior. If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please contact me at mculbreth@catoosa.k12.ga.us.
During this season, there is always a heightened chance of school delays and/or closures due to weather conditions. Please take this opportunity to review the letter from Mr. Nix on the district webpage (catoosa.k12.ga.us) and verify/update contact information so you will receive text/phone alerts when news needs to be shared with you.Semester report cards will be distributed to students on January 10th. If you have any questions about your student's grades, please contact the school at 706-866-1040 or you can reach out to your student's teachers via email.
Please remember there will be no school on January 20th in order to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As always, I want to encourage you to communicate with the school any time you have questions or concerns. We know that student success increases when there is a strong relationship between the school and the home. Please do not hesitate to email me at mculbreth@catoosa.k12.ga.us when you have questions and/or concerns.
We look forward to having a great 2nd semester and conclusion to the school year!

ACCESS testing for active ELL students begins January 8th and ends February 28th, 2025. Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state. It has four domains, Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Teachers in our school use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for your child. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress your child makes toward English proficiency. Some suggestions for helping your student to do well are to make sure they get a good night's rest. Another is to work with them to speak, read, and write in English as often as possible. Every bit of practice will make a difference. Last, encourage them to do their best no matter how hard they feel the assessment is. Their hard work and perseverance will carry them through.
