Principal's Updates
Dear Heim Elementary Community,
It is hard to believe we are already heading into the month of February! As we look forward to the weeks ahead, below are some updates from our school.
Grade 4 Winter Concert
Congratulations to our fourth grade musicians and vocalists for an outstanding performance this past Tuesday, January 28th! Students performed for our school as well as for families in the evening. Thank you to our dedicated music teachers: Ms. Gengo, Mrs. Reisdorf, and Ms. Rogers for preparing our students so well. Thank you families for your continued partnership at home. We are already looking forward to the next concert in the spring!

Math Iditarod Challenge
Today marks the last day of our Math Iditarod challenge. Our student engagement team has done an amazing job preparing such a fun and engaging way for our students to build math concepts, fact fluency, and math confidence. Thank you families for supporting math activities at home. All classes to reach 1,100 math miles will earn a snow cone party!
Heim Middle Partnership
This past week we were excited to host 18 middle school students from Heim Middle School’s Cultural Connections Club. On Monday, January 27th our second grade classes listened to a read aloud on Lunar New Year. Middle school students spent time answering student questions. Throughout the school year, all grade levels will receive a visit from Heim Middle School students to learn about one of the following celebrations: Black History Month, Holi, Eid al-Fitr, and Juneteenth with the goal of fostering inclusivity and cultural awareness.
NYS Testing
This year, our students will be taking the NYS Math and ELA tests via their chromebooks- a change from our previous paper tests. On January 23rd, grade 3 & 4 students participated in a Computer Based Testing Simulation along with all students grade 3-8 in our district. The 45 minute simulation did not test student abilities, it was to test this new infrastructure and provide students an opportunity to work with the interface.
NYS tests in ELA and Math will take place the first two weeks of May for grade 3 & 4 students. More information will be available as we approach these dates.
Please feel free to contact us at any time!
Sincerely,
Dr. Cassandra Wright, Interim Principal
Mrs. Lindsey Johnson, Assistant Principal

Transportation Changes
If your child will have a change in transportation, or will be picked up early, please send a paper note to your child’s teacher. Notifying teachers electronically, mid-day will not guarantee teachers will get the information on time. In addition, we can only give bus passes for emergency childcare, not for prearranged playdates. Thank you for your cooperation.
Reminder for Pick Up
Please remember to always have ID when coming into school as you may be required to provide it when picking up your child.

Open Enrollment
Open enrollment is the opportunity for students who live in the Williamsville Central School District to attend a school within the District that is outside of the student’s residential attendance area. Each school year, the Board of Education decides which schools will be available for open enrollment in the following school year, based primarily on anticipated enrollments. If a school is expected to be near or at capacity, the school may be “closed” to any students who reside outside of its designated attendance area.
The Office of Student Services must receive written requests for open enrollment for the 2025-26 school year by June 1, 2025 for grades 1 through 12; incoming Kindergarten students have a July 1, 2025 open enrollment deadline.
