Attention Parents of Dual Credit Students!
The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) recently opened the Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment (DCDE) Scholarship application, and students can now apply for the award. The DCDE Scholarship covers tuition and fees for low-income high school students – who demonstrate financial need (i.e. are eligible for free or reduced lunch) taking dual credit or dual enrollment coursework from a Missouri college or university. More information on student eligibility can be found on the DCDE scholarship webpage located within the department website.
The DCDE scholarship offers a valuable opportunity that can significantly benefit students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. By taking advantage of this program, students can gain a head start on postsecondary education by earning college credits while still in high school, which can help make college more affordable and accessible and can reduce barriers to achieving a postsecondary credential.
Students can submit the scholarship application online through the State Financial Aid Portal. Applications for the fall 2024 semester will be accepted through December 1, 2024. Additionally, students may apply for both fall and spring semesters at the same time and do not need to wait for the fall deadline to pass before applying for spring. The priority deadline for the spring award is February 1, 2025, and the final deadline is April 1, 2025.
Students will need to upload the required documentation with their application, which includes the parental release form (recently updated), financial need documentation, and transcripts that include the unweighted cumulative GPA. The updated parental release form includes new language that attests to the citizenship and residency status of the student. This needs to be checked for the application to be considered complete, and the student considered eligible for the scholarship.

Post on Our Kindness Wall!
Miller County R-III Schools now have a Kindness eWall through YouUpLift.com and Columbia College! This is a digital wall where students, staff, and parents can submit positive, kind messages to others and those messages will appear on the digital wall on a loop. Messages can include pictures, memes, and GIFs. Submitted messages are reviewed by the school before appearing on the digital wall. The Kindness eWall can be viewed by clicking here and to submit a message, you would scroll down the screen to the message box below. We are currently working on linking the eWall to the school website and to run on the TV in the cafeteria so students and staff can see positive messages throughout the day. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hopkins.
