The RSAA Weekly Parent/Community Update
School As Usual
Please be reminded that we are in session next week. We have had some parents call to ask if we are on Spring Break. RSAA Spring Break is the week of April 14th.
Literacy Night Stars and Winners!
Thank you to Mrs. Logan for bringing RSAA One School, One Book and coordinating the many different facets of this program that led to many of the things we saw last night with literacy night. We also had some great expressions of literacy and plugging content of the books into the context of life that some of our teachers brought into their classroom galleries! We had some very unique and heartfelt expressions from our children and teachers and that is EVERYTHING that we could ask for in this initiative. Looking forward to what our next book could be!
Pictured below are our bookmark contest winners as well as our gift card winners from our drawing.

Warm Weather Vibes
Our children are the best gauge of how the return of warm weather renews the spirit. As temperatures warm up we will get back to having outside recess whenever possible. Please make sure your child has the proper coat/jacket/sweatshirt for the temperatures. While we have some extras in case of emergency, we do not have clothes to provide students each and everyday.
As we get the warm weather vibes, we have to remember that school is in full swing and the spring is one of the most important academic parts of the year. We need students present, focused and understanding the respect of their classmates and teachers personal spaces. Your reminder to them about the expectation of their conduct at school goes a long way in the partnership to provide the best experience we can for your student.
Literacy Night and Mallet Madness
Thank you to our families for joining us for this event. A special thank you to Miss Lelu and Miss Charity for their creativity and design of our show. Mr. Johnson for our sound and set and Mrs. Glover for the program. Thank you to Mr. Jameson, Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. Vega for running our backstage entrances and exits and for our student helpers who moved around our stage when needed as well as helped with lights. It takes many hands to make a show work and it was all hands on deck for the performance experience last night! Biggest thanks to our students for their abilities and skills on display for their peers and families.
Important Reminders
We have had a very busy two weeks and are fortunate that we have been able to get back into consistent school routines. It always seems that when we hit this time of year we see increased negative behaviors and interactions with students in general whether in the classroom, on the bus, or at home over the weekend and it comes to school the next week.
A few reminders for parents:
1. The rules for the bus are the rules the transporting district sets. They are not the same for every district, but the safety and security for the students and the driver is consistently addressed in these rules. Never get on the bus. If you have an issue with a student, a driver, or actions on the bus, contact Mr. Will or the transporting bus garage. Rules are firm and stated clearly and therefore there is little flexibility when it comes to consequences. Please call before emotion takes over common sense in these situations.
2. If your child is disrupting learning in the classroom and the learning of other students you may get a call and in some instances you are going to be asked to pick up your child. This is an inconvenience in many instances which is understood, yet the disruption caused to the other 20+ students in the classroom is an issue as well and will be addressed. If issues are ongoing, the school will work with you to come up with a solution that is best for the student and the student's classmates. If it is a safety issue, you will be asked to pick up your student immediately.
3. Please read what is sent to you in texts and emails. There are things that you need to know that can be answered by just looking at the newsletter, listening to the automated call, reading an email or text. You will get things from the school in general as well as individual teachers.
4. NO FAST FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE SCHOOL This has become an issue with students not getting to class because they are sent to school or fast food is dropped off at school. We will not accept fast food for student lunches nor will students be able to eat fast food in the lobby. There are no exceptions to this as we serve breakfast and lunch daily. If a student does not like what is being offered, they can bring in a packed breakfast and lunch. The USDA does not allow fast food to be served in schools without proper contracts and licensing with the vendor. Please adhere to this as students that bring in fast food will have to throw it away.
State Testing and Absences
We will begin state testing in a little over two weeks. It is very important that students are eating healthy, getting enough sleep and are consistently at school for the next two months as all three of these facets are keys to being successful. We ask that when at all possible, absences and late arrival/early pick-ups are limited during the next two months.
Important Dates/Changes to Dates
School will be in session for ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS May 30, 2025 to make up a snow day.
Open Enrollment for 2025-2026
RSAA has opened enrollment for any student interested in the school K-8. A wait list is already in place for kindergarten as it has filled and we have some grade levels that are reaching capacity quickly. If you need to secure a spot, please get your enrollment completed. If you have friends/family interested in RSAA, have them call Mrs. Jones to set up a tour and enrollment process.
Kindergarten Enrollment/Open House
We are currently at capacity for kindergarten for the 25-26 academic year. New kindergarten enrollees will be put on a wait list as of 3/7/2025.
Students are Tardy at 8:15
Please understand that the doors are locked and students that are dropped off at 8:15 are considered tardy. We have a number of students that are showing up late and this throws off attendance as well as student ability to eat breakfast. Please have your child to school by 8:10 to make sure they are not tardy.
