Schewe Speech
Happy Mother's Day to all our Hanna Woods Mothers! I hope you are being spoiled by your children this Sunday :-)
As we approach the end of another wonderful school year, I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news about upcoming construction projects happening at our school this summer.
Thanks to the generous support of our community and the successful passing of the 2022 bond issue, we have the opportunity to enhance our school facilities even further. In the second phase of construction, we will be focusing on several key areas to improve both the functionality and aesthetics of our beloved Hanna Woods Elementary.
Here's what you can expect during this summer's construction:
Exterior Classrooms Getting Windows
Solar Tubes for Interior Classrooms (3-5 Side Only)
Replacement of Exterior Doors
New Roof Installation
Construction will begin as soon as school is out for the summer to minimize disruption to our students and staff. While we anticipate some temporary inconveniences during this time, we are confident that the long-term benefits of these enhancements will greatly outweigh any short-term challenges.
Thank you in advance for you patience with the construction :-)
Thank YOU!
A BIG Thank you to all of the parents, students, and staff that donated to our 5th Grade Legacy Project! The 5th grade legacy project donated 4 picnic table to create a lunch and work space for outside our library. Here is a rendering of what the final project will look like. Thank you, Mr. Mike Shea for creating the image.
2024 Attendance Challenge
We'll be doing another attendance challenge during the MAP testing window to help encourage students to make it to school. From Monday 5/6 through Friday, May 17th, we will be calculating attendance percentage daily for every class. The class with the highest attendance for each week will win an extra 15 minutes of recess.
Stay healthy and let's finish the year strong!
Mental Health Tip
Learning healthy boundaries with screen time, including social media, is an important skill for all kids and pre-teens. Start by creating a family media plan provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics to spark conversation and set goals for your family’s media usage.
