Winter Weather Preparedness
Click the image below for information from the county about the process for school closings and the means of communication.
With the prospect of winter weather, please take the time to review county protocols and expectations for students. Beginning on SNOW DAY #6, all students will be expected to engage in online learning for the day.
SNOW DAY 6 an beyond will be guided by the following protocols:
- ONE OR TWO DAYS: Students should log in at the start of class just like in person learning to be given instructions for class. The schedule is the same as in person. This includes specials/ electives.
- A WEEK OR MORE: A minimum of 1 Teams meeting per class should occur for instruction and 1 Teams meeting daily for general questions or help for all classes. Days there are no teams meetings there should be asynchronous (online independent) learning which will be shown on the upcoming daily calendar. This includes specials/ electives.
Students will need to...
o Know how to access their TEAMS link and how to log in
o Know where to find remote folder
o Know the schedule and expectations of the day
o Have working, charged technology to have a successful day
Immunization Reminder
Dear BCS Parents/Caregivers of Current 6th Grade Students: West Virginia State law and rules require that all children entering school in West Virginia for the first time in grades K-12 must show proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B unless properly medically exempted.
ALL children enrolling school in grades K-12 MUST have age appropriate immunizations as mandated by West Virginia State law PRIOR to attending school!
All students entering 7th Grade must show proof of immunization against Tdap and meningococcal/meningitis: West Virginia recommends a health check/physical exam and a dental exam for all 7th Grade students before the first day of school.
Call today to schedule an appointment with your child’s physician, a local health department, or community health center to have your child vaccinated. This is required to attend the first day of class next fall. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse Amanda Dagostino, RN 304-274-5030 or amanda.dagostino@k12.wv.us

Box Tops for Education
Dear SMMS families,
As part of our ongoing fundraising efforts, we want to remind you that you can help us earn funds through Box Tops for Education by simply submitting your grocery receipts.
Here are two easy ways to participate:
Drop Off Your Receipts: Bring your receipts to the office and place them in the designated Box Tops Collection Box. Our Box Tops Coordinator will scan them for you—no need to do a thing!
Scan Your Own Receipts: If you prefer, you can scan your receipts using the Box Tops app. It's quick and easy! Just download the app, scan your receipt, and submit.
Every Box Top adds up, and your participation helps us get closer to our goal. Please take a moment to either drop off your receipts or submit them through the app. We appreciate your support!
Thank you for helping make a difference!
