🍂🍁MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL🍂🍁
I am in awe of our Miller Community and want to thank you for making Miller amazing and helping us RIDE together to success! As we move through November, we are embracing our community engagement to bring our families together in support of our own. We will be adopting our own Miller families in need to provide Thanksgiving meals. To celebrate our community, we would like to start a new tradition, the Miller Mustang Meal. On November 29th, the courtyard will come alive with family activities, pot luck style food, and fun!
This month will bring other celebrations including our weekly Rockstars, Miller of the Month, Cross Country meets and basketball tryouts, Kindness week Spirit days and amazing classroom celebrations. Site Council and PTO will meet to plan upcoming events, and the staff will continue meeting to plan interventions and quality instruction to help our students achieve. We want our Miller families to be part of it all and encourage you to come when you can!
Our November focus will be attendance. This is one way to see an improvement in our school. Miller has an attendance goal this year! We would like to see our campus get to 90% attendance. Did you know that in order to have 90% attendance, your student could still miss up to 18 days of school outside of school holidays and days off? Attendance letters and plans have been sent out to students who are currently at or below. This means that a student with below 70% attendance has attended less than 42 days out of the 60 we have been in school. We understand when students get sick and have to stay home.
We would like to ask for your support in encouraging and helping your student(s) understand the importance of being at school everyday. Learning can be hard, but we will help them feel better and understand even though learning is hard, making mistakes and asking questions is how we learn! Together we will RIDE to success and celebrate along the way!
I am grateful for each and every one of our Miller Mustangs!

Tucson Unified is rolling out a new program to help any of our district families who may be dealing with housing insecurity. If any TUSD family finds themselves in a position where their house is unavailable, they can now apply for Emergency Housing Support (EHS).
The EHS program can be used by TUSD families once per school year and it will provide a four-day/three-night stay at one of the five EHS hotel partners. Families may also receive gas cards and internet connection. Incidentals and/or additional stay will be the responsibility of the TUSD family.
