Halloween Celebrations- October 31
We are excited to announce our Halloween celebrations on Thursday, October 31, from 1:00 PM until the end of the day. EPIC will be providing all the fun activities for the event.
Important Notes:
- No Goodie Bags or Food Items: Due to the many allergies in our building and to prevent the spread of germs, students should not bring in goodie bags or food items. EPIC will provide all materials for our celebrations, so there’s no need for additional items. Thank you for understanding and helping keep everyone safe!
Costume Guidelines:
- Do not wear costumes to school: Students should bring their costumes to school and change before the celebration.
- Costume Independence: Students must be able to put on their costumes by themselves, over their regular clothes.
- Classroom Costume Change: Costumes will be put on in the classrooms.
- School-Appropriate Costumes: Costumes should be appropriate for school—no blood, weapons, or anything that may be deemed inappropriate for a school setting.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to a fun and festive Halloween!
Veteran's Day Invite
Attention All Military Personnel and Veterans
Millburn Elementary School would like to honor you at our all school Veteran’s Day assembly on Monday, November 13th at 1:00pm.
We are also looking for honored guests to visit the classrooms following our assembly to talk about military life. We would love to have enough military personnel and veterans so that each classroom can have a guest speaker.
Also, the Millburn staff would like to invite our veterans to a luncheon before our assembly at 12:00pm in the Media Center.
If you have a family member, neighbor, or friend who would like to be honored during our assembly and/or attend the luncheon, please fill out the Veterans Day invite paper found in the virtual backpack.
RSVPs are due no later than Wednesday, November 6th.
If you have any questions, please contact Jen Fritsch at jfritsch@millburn24.net.
We Salute Our Veterans Day Heroes
In honor of Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th, Millburn Elementary is going to hang a display in our hallway of all the veterans we know. If you know a veteran that we can honor on our Wall of Heroes, please fill out the attached paper with the information about the veteran you know and add a picture. We will display them for the month of November. If you need more than one copy, please look in the virtual backpack or ask your child's teacher.
A copy of the picture is recommended as we will try to return all pictures, but cannot guarantee it.
Please return to Millburn Elementary by Wednesday, November 6th!!
Art To Remember
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $20. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child's order form or to search for your child's artwork. Then, have fun shopping!

Are you moving out of district?
If your family is planning to move out of the school district, we kindly ask that you follow the steps below to ensure a smooth transition for your child(ren) as they move to a new school.
1. Notify the School
Please inform the school as soon as possible about your intent to move. This helps us prepare necessary documentation and ensure proper communication between schools.
2. Request Records
We will need to transfer your child’s academic records to their new school. Once you know which school your child will be attending, please provide us with the name and contact information for their new school, so we can forward their records promptly.
3. Return School Property
If your child has any school-issued items such as textbooks, library books, technology devices, or sports equipment, please make sure to return these items to the school before your departure.
4. Update Your Contact Information
Ensure that we have your most up-to-date contact information. This will allow us to reach you in case there are any follow-up questions or details regarding your child’s transition.
5. Confirm Withdrawal Date
Please provide us with the exact date of your child’s last day of attendance, so we can officially process their withdrawal.
We understand that moving can be both an exciting and challenging time for families. Our team is here to support your child(ren) and make this transition as seamless as possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact the school office.
Be Seen and Heard- Erin's Law
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students.
Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, will be assisting our school in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
Safety rules at home and school
Saying “NO”
Safe/Unsafe Secrets
It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
Telling a trusted adult
See below for video on what concepts will be covered for each grade level.
Mr. Pacini will be presenting at Millburn Elementary on Wednesday, November 6.
Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please email your child’s classroom teacher.

Millburn Parent University
PARENT CONNECTIONS through a Parent University Series
We have already had opportunities for parents to connect with staff at the start of the school year, and an opportunity this week for parents to connect with other parents. It is important for our community to connect with each other in various ways to create a support network as we bring up our kids toward adulthood. The PARENT U series is another opportunity to connect throughout the year! Please consider taking part in as many of these opportunities as possible! Save the dates and times in this LINK, and watch for more details as the year progresses.
