Principal's Post
It’s been another fantastic week in Raider Nation! We kicked off the week by celebrating our 6th-grade students for their growth on the Q3 Benchmarks. We’re excited to see what all of our grade levels will achieve during the upcoming MAP Tests next week.
Next week, our students will take the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test, a computer-adaptive assessment that helps track growth in reading and math. This test provides valuable data for teachers to tailor their instruction and helps parents understand their child’s academic progress. Additionally, MAP testing serves as an indicator of how students are likely to perform on the SC Ready assessments.
We’ve been reviewing data regularly and setting goals with our students. The progress they’ve made so far is inspiring, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow. Please continue to encourage them as we enter the final stretch of the school year.
Testing Reminders:
- Ensure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before tests.
- Have them eat a nutritious breakfast before testing.
- Make sure they arrive at school on time each day.
- Review key concepts with your child before testing.
Upcoming Events:
- Tuesday, April 8th – Spring MAP Reading
- Wednesday, April 9th – Flag Football @ YCHS
- Thursday, April 10th – Spring MAP Math
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our students succeed!

They were then escorted to another room to be judged by another professional on their ability to Sight Read a 16 measured song from beginning to end in three parts.

Attention rising 7th grade parents
In accordance with South Carolina Code of Laws and State Regulation, a Tdap vaccine is required for all seventh graders in South Carolina. The Tdap vaccine is a booster that protects against three serious diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). Please plan accordingly to have your child’s TDAP vaccine by the first day of next school year.
If you would like to check if your child has received the required TDAP for 7th grade, please call the school nurse at (803) 981-1527. A letter will be sent home at the end of April for any student that does not have a TDAP documented in the South Carolina immunization database.
