We Need Your Help
We have noticed an increase in damage on our playground lately. Kids are riding electric bikes and scooters on the playground in the evenings and on the weekends and it is burning holes in the turf. We will talk to kids about this at school. However, we need your help. Please take a moment to reinforce the importance of keeping bikes/scooters off of this area of our school grounds.
End of Quarter Information - Viewing Canvas Courses and Quarter Grades
At the end of each quarter, courses in Canvas will conclude and will no longer be visible on the Canvas app. However, a concluded course remains visible through the Canvas website by selecting ALL COURSES and then PAST ENROLLMENTS.
Important dates for families:
Enroll in this course: https://bvusd.instructure.com/enroll/73CN87
The Family Resources Canvas Course is now available for Blue Valley families. This course is designed to help families navigate Canvas, whether beginning or looking for a reminder. Additionally, the course includes Canvas guides for Observers (the role assigned to parents).
Halloween is coming soon
Halloween will be run as it was last year. We would love for you to help the students on party days. However, if you aren't acting as a volunteer, feel free to stay home/at work and pick up from school as you usually do. If you want a free pass to stay away, here it is!! If you choose to volunteer, thank you, and we can't wait to see you!!!!! Please be on the lookout for a sign up coming soon. I will let you know in advance. Please be aware that the sign up will go through membership toolkit, if you have yet to sign up for a username and password, you will have to create one before you are able to view the sign-up. Never fear, we will have a bunch of spots available to sign up for each class.
You do NOT need to be a volunteer to just watch the parade. The parade will take place in the circle drive in front of the school. If you are just watching the parade, you don't have to sign in. You can just watch from outside.
As a reminder: All visitors, even on class party days, must enter school property using our secure entry by showing a government-issued photo ID. Only people who have signed up to volunteer will be able to gain access to the inside of the school for this event. Please remind anyone who is volunteering about our safety protocols.
As You Start to Look for Costumes
Students may wear costumes to school as long as they can easily sit in chairs at tables. Students will be asked to wait until the parade for all non-clothing accessories. Bulky costumes may be put on later in the day for the parade.
No full coverage face make-up should be worn to school , please save this for trick-or-treating. Although students can wear masks for the parade, please know that the full coverage masks can often be scary for kids. Please be sensitive to that as you make your choices.
Costumes should be culturally and socially sensitive. Respect for all individuals and groups needs to be demonstrated.
Costumes should not be violent in any manner. No weapons can be implied (such as swords, knives, guns, light saber, etc.)
Please also avoid blood, fake body parts and masks that could scare our younger learners.
A good rule of thumb would be to keep from wearing anything that would scare a kindergarten student.
Thank you for your help in maintaining a safe, comfortable and happy environment vs. one with scary costumes. As you prepare for the day please keep the listed items at home for trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and do not bring them to school. I appreciate your support to assure our students feel comfortable with all of the costumes.
