The Wildcat Weekly
11/11/24-11/15/24
Week 13
A few reminders:
- Please DO NOT pull through the parking lot in the morning to drop students off. There are many cars that are pulling in and out, as well as staff who are parking, and it creates a safety issue for students who are walking across the parking lot.
- If your student is going to be absent, call the office at (417)523-1200 and let Sussie know.
- Please call the office before 2:30 if you have a transportation change for your student.
- If you would like to shout-out your student's teacher or any other Weaver staff member, see the information below, and fill out the form.

Transitional Transfer Window for 5th Graders
Fifth-graders may apply for Transitional Transfer for the 2025-26 school year beginning Nov. 1, 2024.
SPS fifth-graders have the opportunity to request a Transitional Transfer for the 2025-2026 school year to a middle school of their choice that is open to transfers. Students interested in this option may submit requests between 7:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, and 5:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
This type of transfer is offered as part of Springfield Public Schools’ open enrollment option. If your child plans to attend the middle school assigned to them based on the student’s home address, no action is needed.
If your child is on transfer to a current elementary school and you would like for them to attend the connected middle school you will need to submit a request to transitionally transfer to that middle school.
The transitional transfer request form for the 2025-2026 school year must be completed electronically. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp.
If your student is interested, visit www.sps.org/transfers to learn more.

We are SNOW THANKFUL you are here!
- Type of Challenge: Individual
- Dates: November 6th-December 20th
- How will it be tracked: We will have a turkey in the cafeteria for the month of November. Then in December we will incorporate a winter theme. After a student is here bell to bell with out leaving (perfect attendance for the day) for 4 days, they will get to put a feather on the turkey. They will also receive an attendance prize after 4 days of perfect attendance.
Meet our Attendance Turkey that students will be adding feathers to during this challenge.
Cookie Decorating Party
In addition to the "We are SNOW THANKFUL you are here" challenge we are going to celebrate students who have great attendance by having a cookie decorating party on December 20th. Any student who has 95% attendance or higher at the end of our current attendance challenge will be invited to attend. In order for a student to qualify to attend the cookie party, they can miss no more than 1.5 days of school from November 6th-December 20th.

A Deeper Dive into Each Brain State
The Emotional State: "Am I loved?"
Our Emotional State is our response to upset – and can only be soothed through connection. An upset emotional state is triggered by the world not going our way. It limits our ability to see from another’s point of view. This upset, unconscious state keeps us on autopilot so our words and tone match those of key authority figures from our childhood. We revert to disciplining the same ways we were disciplined, even if we know these behaviors to be ineffective or hurtful.
The only way to soothe an upset emotional state is through the creation of connection.
