Shamrock Blast

For November, Carey Ridge Cares held a food drive for Open Doors of Westfield. The goal was to donate more than last year which helped families for three months. And it looks like they reached that goal! The students had so much fun dressing up on the Spirit Days to raise money and WOW, look at how much food they collected! The student council members each day helped to sort, organize, and get the boxes ready for Open Doors to pick up. The school staff helped get all of the boxes in the van to take to Open Doors. The van was completely filled up!

The Westfield Lantern Awards is a time-honored tradition of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce. The signature community recognition event began in 1982. You can nominate any district staff for the Westfield Washington Schools Award of Distinction. This award is given out to an employee or former employee who made a significant contribution to the school district, the children it serves, or their fellow colleagues.

To commemorate the countdown to Christmas, the Westfield High School Student Government is once again hosting an annual Christmas Event.Cookies with Santa returns, boasting festive activities such as holiday craft making, cookie designing, and an appearance from Santa! There will also be popcorn, cookies, hot chocolate and more. We would greatly appreciate donations, new toys in original packaging, towards Riley Hospital for Children and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital! Let’s make this holiday season spectacular we hope to see you there!

Each year, the Westfield Education Foundation gives away thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating seniors to help them continue their educational journey at the institution of their choice. Scholarship awards are based on MUCH more than academics -- and some don't factor grades at all.

This ultra-soft, super warm blanket is brought to you by the Westfield Education Foundation, which means 100% of the proceeds go directly towards funding scholarships for graduating Rocks and grants for classroom teachers.

This is the time of year that we get the most requests for all type of assistance. From clothes, to food, to school supplies to toys, our community members have many needs during the holidays and all year long. We, at WWS Parent University, don't, yet, know the specific needs of our community, but we are looking for community members who are interested in providing support to those who need it.

As a reminder, WWS will continue to offer breakfast and lunch, consistent with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, for all students at all schools.

Schools are opening up for volunteers, lunches and many more opportunities. Anyone who would like to come into our school buildings will need to register with SafeVisitor and do a background check. Check with your child(ren)'s teacher and/or principal for opportunities to visit.

Westfield Washington Schools is now using TalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.

This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.

The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.

FCCLA Foodies Rock is a fully functioning foodservice operation that is student centered and fostered through the Westfield High School Culinary Arts program. Our members are highly trained in customer service, hospitality, culinary techniques, food safety and sanitation. Foodies Rock holds a Food Permit by the Hamilton County Board of Health, Advisors Nikki Heflin and Bryan Ferreira are ServSafe Manager certified, and will follow the National Restaurant Association’s Guidelines for food preparation. Chef Heflin and Chef Ferreira each have over 20 years of industry experience, and love guiding their students in making both the optics and cuisine for your event out of this world!
