Car Rider Line: Thank you for helping our car rider line run so smoothly. Please remember in the morning dropoff…have your goodbyes finished before pulling up and have your child ready to exit on the passenger side of the car. PLEASE DO NOT get out of the vehicle during drop-off/pick-up. This helps keep everyone safe! Thank you for your cooperation!
Also, if your child is a car rider, you MUST go through the car rider line and NOT drop your child off in the parking lot in the morning. In the afternoon you also MUST go through the car rider line to pick up your child. We appreciate your help with this issue. This is for the safety of all of our students.
New Attendance Law: Parents just a REMINDER of a new Indiana law on school attendance effective July 2024, impacting students in grades K-6 with stricter truancy measures.
The law prioritizes attendance, requiring regular state and local meetings. If a student in K-6 has five unexcused absences, schools must meet with parents to create an attendance plan, which may include wrap-around services/disciplinary actions, and counseling referrals.
Schools are required to report truant students, which means they have 10 or more unexcused absences to the prosecutor or the Indiana Department of Child Services.
The school district is committed to complying with this law and ensuring regular attendance for our students. Please familiarize yourself with this new law and the requirements.
For questions or assistance, contact the school administration. We appreciate your help and support with this matter!
ILEARN Checkpoint: The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is piloting three checkpoints for Grades 3-8 in the 2024-2025 school year. These checkpoints are a new component of the new LEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math, which will be given to all students in Indiana beginning in school year 2025-2026.
Your child’s school will take part in the pilot program this year. The checkpoints will take place in Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each checkpoint has 20-25 questions and will show how your child is doing in key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. This helps guide teaching and supports your child's learning. For more information about the ILEARN checkpoints. Attached are the skills and concepts that will be assessed for each checkpoint. ILEARN Checkpoint Items
Lunches: Student lunches are now $2.70. Breakfast will continue to be free for all students. We encourage all families to fill out the free and reduced lunch form to ensure that if you qualify, you will receive assistance. IMPORTANT: The free and reduced lunch form must be completed every year to qualify. If your family qualified last year, a completed form must be completed again this year. Click here to complete the digital Free and reduced application.
A Few Reminders and updates for the 24-25 School Year:
If you have a transportation change, that will need to be called in by 1:00PM. After this time we will not be able to accommodate that change due to our new dismissal system.
Indiana’s new law on cell phones in the classroom is in effect this school year. Students are not permitted to have cell phones in use during class or at school.
A new attendance law is also in effect beginning this school year that requires immediate attendance interventions and parent conferences after 5 days of absence in a 10 week period. Please see the attached for Attendance information.
The student dress code will be enforced this year. Please remember that students have to wear shoes that have a back on them. NO slides, backless sandals or shoes are allowed. This is for the safety of the children while at school. Thanks for your cooperation with this rule.
Early Release Dismissal will be at 1:45 each Wednesday.
Remember that the beginning of school bell rings at 7:25, which is when bus and car riders are dismissed. The tardy bell rings at 7:45. If your child is tardy for school, you will need to come into the school and sign them in. Students are NOT allowed to check themselves in if they are late to school, and are NOT allowed to be dropped off if tardy.
