The 2025-2026 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available to all students and contributors during the expanded beta testing period. If you complete the form during this testing period, you won’t have to complete it again following the official release, no later than December 1st.
Please keep in mind that guidance counselors are NOT financial aid experts and will not directly advise students or families on financial aid matters.
We are providing the following FAFSA resources for students and families. We encourage you to review them and decide which resource(s) would be most beneficial for you.
FAFSA Information & Resources for the Class of 2025
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) - you must complete and submit the FAFSA to be eligible for federal student aid such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. The FAFSA should be filed by students who plan to attend a four-year college, a two-year or community college, or a trade school/career training program.
Completing and submitting the FAFSA form is free and gives you access to the largest source of aid to help you pay for college or career school. In addition, many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine your state and school aid eligibility.
You will be filling out and submitting the 2025 - 2026 FAFSA.
You can access the FAFSA here.
If you haven’t already created your FSA ID, information can be found here.

FROM THE NURSE
We hope you have a happy Thanksgiving with family and friends! Here are a few tips to keep your holiday healthy:
1. Get Active
Create a calorie deficit by exercising to burn off extra calories before you ever indulge in your favorite foods. Make fitness a family adventure. Take a walk early in the day and then again after dinner. It is a wonderful way for families to get physical activity and enjoy the holiday together.
2. Eat Breakfast
Start your day with a small but satisfying breakfast such as an egg with a slice of whole-wheat toast. Eating a nutritious meal with protein and fiber before you arrive takes the edge off your appetite and allows you to be more discriminating in your food and beverage choices.
3. Police Your Portions
Don’t waste your calories on foods that you can have all year long. Fill your plate with small portions of holiday favorites that only come around once a year so you can enjoy desirable, traditional foods.
4. Slowly Savor
Eating slowly, putting your fork down between bites, and tasting each mouthful is one of the easiest ways to enjoy your meal and feel satisfied with one plate full of food, experts say. Choosing whole grains, fruits, vegetables, broth-based soups, salads, and other foods with lots of water and fiber add to the feeling of fullness.
5. Skip the Seconds
Try to resist the temptation to go back for second helpings. Leftovers are much better the next day!
6. Stay hydrated
Be sure and keep up with your water intake. This will help with digestion and portion control.
7. Focus on Family and Friends
Thanksgiving is not just about the delicious bounty of food. It’s a time to celebrate relationships with family and friends. The main event should be family and friends socializing, spending quality time together, not just what is on the buffet.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Next week is a short, two-day week followed by a five-day break for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Powder Puff game is Monday night 6:00 PM. Good luck to both the junior and senior girls participating! Good luck also to RHS Cheer who heads to Worcester for the MSAA Fall Cheerleading Championship at Worcester State University!
Looking ahead to the week after break, the annual Credit for Life Fair will take place in school on Thursday, December 5 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM for sophomores. Students will have the opportunity to explore career options and tackle real-world financial decision making given budget constraints. On Friday, December 6, the National Honor Society will be hosting a blood drive in honor of former Rockland High School nurse and community member Ann Phelps. The drive will take place from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Sign-up information is on the attached flyer.
Wishing you all a nice break and a Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Cheryl Schipper
