Buenas tardes familias de James John,

¡Bienvenido de nuevo! Y feliz año nuevo a todos. Recibí los resultados de la Encuesta Escolar Exitosa de nuestra escuela y los resultados también se harán públicos pronto. Para resaltar algunas áreas de nuestros resultados: los estudiantes se sienten más seguros, su conexión con la escuela ha aumentado y los estudiantes dieron un índice de aprobación del 95 % de la sensación de que sus maestros creen que pueden tener un buen desempeño en la escuela... ¡increíble! El poder de que un maestro crea en ti es muy poderoso y me alegró ver que los estudiantes se sienten positivos y mejores acerca de la escuela este año. Por supuesto, siempre hay áreas en las que podemos crecer y estamos trabajando para mejorar.

A partir de este lunes nuestra escuela comienza las evaluaciones MAP de invierno para estudiantes de 2.º a 5.º grado de Matemáticas y Artes del Lenguaje. Las boletas de calificaciones también deben entregarse a finales de este mes. Asegúrese de que su hijo/a descanse lo suficiente para que estén listos para afrontar sus días escolares y sus evaluaciones; puede ser difícil en esta época del año debido al clima. El miércoles nuestra PTA de James John se reunirá a las 5:15 pm y luego el viernes tendremos nuestra reunión Walk and Roll en el Centro Comunitario St. Johns. Espero verte allí a las 7:45 am.

Por último…

Hemos experimentado un aumento en el número de estudiantes que regresan a casa con algún tipo de virus estomacal, resfriado o gripe. Actualmente estamos tomando precauciones para garantizar que nuestras aulas estén lo más libres de gérmenes posible. Recuerde mantener a su hijo/a en casa si se siente enfermo o tiene problemas estomacales. Cuando su hijo/a no tenga síntomas, podrá regresar a la escuela, lo que ayudará a reducir la propagación de la enfermedad.

Si desea ayudarnos a mantener nuestra escuela libre de gérmenes, puede ayudar donando toallitas desinfectantes a nuestra oficina y luego podemos distribuirlas en los salones de clases. Gracias.

Good afternoon James John Families,

Welcome back! And Happy New Year to all. I have received our school’s Successful School Survey results and the results will go public soon as well. To highlight a few areas from our results: students are feeling safer, their connection to school has increased and students gave a 95% approval rating of feeling that their teacher’s believe they can do well in school...amazing! The power of having a teacher believe in you is so powerful and I was glad to see that students are feeling positive and better about school this year. Of course there are always areas for us to grow and we are working towards getting better.

Starting this Monday our school begins Winter MAP assessments for students in grades 2 - 5 for Mathematics and Language Arts. Report cards are also due at the end of this month. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest so they are ready to tackle their school days and their assessments, it can be difficult this time of year with the weather being what it is. Wednesday our James John PTA will be meeting at 5:15 pm and then Friday we will be having our Walk and Roll gathering at the St. Johns Community Center. Hope to see you there at 7:45 am.

Lastly…

We have experienced a spike in students going home with some form of stomach bug, cold or flu virus. We are currently taking precautions to ensure our classrooms are as germ free as we can get them. Please remember to keep your child home if they are feeling sick or experiencing stomach issues. When your child is symptom free they can return to school, this will help in reducing the spread of illness.

If you would like to help us in keeping our school germ free, you can help by donating disinfecting wipes to our office and we can then distribute them to classrooms. Thank you all.

Project Overview

George Park, located at N Burr Avenue and Fessenden Street, is a
one block neighborhood park in St. Johns. This project will add
additional park amenities, improve site accessibility, update lights, and expand the playground.

Key Highlights of the Project:

• Improvements: Expanded playground with new equipment,
  updated pathways, new lights, more picnic tables and benches,
  and other site upgrades.
• Collaborative Design: Community-driven planning to include potential amenities like a loop pathway, active and passive recreation opprotunities, or more flexible space for community events.
• Funding: $3M investment from system development charges (SDCs) with additional funding secured by our partners.
