Happy Spring!

It is amazing how quickly we all get out of our ruts and our attitudes change for the better when the weather starts improving! Students and staff always seem to have smiles on their faces and a little spring in their step (could it be because the end of the school year is fast approaching?) 😊

There are many exciting events occurring at our school this spring, including outdoor sporting events, final competitions and concerts, end of year AP and final exams, awards and recognitions, prom, and of course, graduation. The end of the year is always a mix of excitement and apprehension… not just for our seniors, but their families and the Marian staff as well! We always hope that we can ease the students’ anxieties and keep them focused to the end of the school year so they can complete their high school years, putting their best foot forward. We are very proud of the young men and women of the class of 2022 and pray that no matter what path their lives take them, they will always know that they have a home at Marian Central.

As educators and administrators of the school, however, the work is never done! There is always another set of students rising to the next level of their education, new set of challenges, and exciting new experiences. Marian’s administrative team is always looking to enhance and improve the education and opportunities we provide to our students. In response to our students’ needs, we are implementing an Advisory Period beginning in the 2022-23 school year to be imbedded in the regular 8 am – 2:40 pm student schedule. Please click here for a general overview of how we intend on utilizing this time moving forward. (The revised bell schedule will be found in the 2022-23 Student Handbook on the Marian website).

We are very excited for the Advisory Period and how it will serve our students, covering such a wide array of topics, all for the development of the whole student. It is our passion to help all our students, no matter where they are in their journey, to reach their God-given potential, and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of their lives, even if for a short time. Blessing to you and yours as we wrap up the last half quarter of this school year.

Senior Exam Exemptions (seniors only)

• Requires no more than 5 absences in requested class for sem. 2,
• no more than 3 disciplinary hours over the whole school year.
• and a cumulative grade of at least an 87%.
• Form (& appeal if need be) are due to the office by April 29 (or April 28 because seniors won the day off for April 29).
• Can submit an appeal request along with form if there were extenuating circumstances

AP Exam Exemptions (Any AP student, 9-12)

• Requires a cumulative grade of at least an 87%
• and student must have taken the AP test.
• Due to the office by May 16

**Please note that exemption privilege can be rescinded if the qualifiers (grades, discipline, or attendance) change, causing the student to no longer qualify prior to the date of the exam.

>>Students should NOT ask teachers to sign these forms until at least 1-2 days prior to the due dates of each respectively.

On Friday, May 20th, we will hold our annual Honor's Day Assembly at 9:00 am. Seniors must be in attendance for this event; however, freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have the day off of school and are not required to be in attendance.

On Monday, April 11th, Bishop Malloy and Fr. Twenty joined Fr. Warren and the Marian Community for a special Mass. Bishop Malloy blessed our new mural which has been installed in Landers Pavilion as a backdrop for all celebrations of the Eucharist. Fr. Twenty initiated the project and returned to share the symbolism found throughout the mural. Thank you, Fr. Warren, for arranging this beautiful event for our community.

We are fortunate to also have another new mural in the school which was created by four of our talented art students with the vision and guidance of Dr. Glenn Pinnau and Ms. Jessica Zuba.
