Welcome to the 2024-2025 KinderStart program at Sacred Heart Academy! We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with you as we prepare our little ones for their transition into kindergarten this coming September.

We understand that this transition is a significant milestone for both children and families, and we are here to support and guide you every step of the way. Through engaging activities, supportive teachers, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, we aim to make this experience both enriching and joyful for your child.

We look forward to getting to know each and every one of our young learners and their families as we embark on this wonderful adventure together. Together, let's make this a memorable and fulfilling experience for our future kindergarteners.

Sacred Heart Academy, is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador School system which has 259 schools with approximately 67,000 students. Our school has an enrollment of 370 students from Grades Kindergarten to Seven. Sacred Heart Academy serves the communities of Marystown, including Creston North, Creston South, Little Bay, Beau Bois, as well as, Spanish Room, Mooring Cove, Red Harbour, Rock Harbour and Jean de Baie. Sacred Heart Academy offers the provincially prescribed curriculum in all Grades from Kindergarten to seven.

Starting school is an important time for children and families. Children who make a positive start to school are more likely to:

feel comfortable, relaxed and valued
feel excited and motivated to learn have good relationships with others
develop a sense of belonging within the school community.

Starting school is not just about the first day. It's a process that begins when children and families start to prepare in the year before, and continues as children experience their first days, weeks and months of school. The process involves a number of changes for children and families, and everyone reacts differently

Before Christmas an email was sent to KinderStart families asking them to complete the following Google Form: KinderStart Class Form. Completion of the form helps us better plan and tailor our activities to meet the needs of our new students. If you did not complete the form at that time we kindly ask you to please take a few moments to fill out the form, providing us with any relevant details and preferences. Your input is invaluable, and it will assist us in creating a nurturing and enriching environment for your child.
