A Message from the Principal
Hello Woodland Families,
We had a fantastic half day today with our Halloween parties and costume parade! The rain held off and we were able to have our walk outside. It was so much fun seeing the innovative and fun costumes that the students wore!
Don't forget that Parent Teacher Conferences are next week. Please make sure to click on the links below to sign up to meet with your child's teacher. We value the time with our parents to discuss students' strengths and opportunities for growth.
Please check your child's Friday Folders for our Woodland Math and Literacy night fliers. This is a wonderful event for both parents and students to learn and grow. This event will offer math and reading activities for students and information sessions for Woodland parents/guardians. Students will be grouped by grade level for stories and activities led by OU Teacher Education students. Adults will attend sessions led by Woodland teachers, OU professors and Avondale's Literacy Coach. Resources created by OU students will be available to take home. Please RSVP by Monday, November 11th.
Please remember that we will have NO SCHOOL tomorrow Friday, November 1st through Tuesday, November 5th for our October fall break. I hope all of you are able to relax and enjoy some family time.
Have a relaxing long weekend,

Golden Paw Awards
Woodland has started a new incentive program called "The Golden Paw" awards. Students who demonstrate our ROARS expectations and go above and beyond may receive a Golden Paw certificate from our Woodland staff. The student brings it down to the Main Office, where they put it in the Golden Paw box in front of Mrs. Rosinski's office. On Friday mornings, a few names are drawn from the box and those students get to pick a prize from our Golden Paw treat cart in the Main Office.
This week's winners are as follows:
Avery A - always being amazing and working so hard in 4th grade
Bryce Y - being kind to a friend
Anthony C - being a helpful safety
Cameron M - having pride in his work
James B - using strategies for reading
Karter L - helping Mr. Brian with litter pickup
Laira N - following directions the first time the teacher asks
Excellent job, Wildcats! Keep up the great work!
School Picture Retake Day
Woodland's School Picture Retake Day will be held on Friday, November 15th. If you would like your student to get their pictures retaken, please remember to bring the original picture packet back to school.
Positivity Project - P2
This week was a Wildcard Week for our Positivity Project. During a Wildcard Week, teachers can a) make up any character strength lessons they didn’t get to finish during a previous week, b) explore our resources more, or c) deep-dive into a character strength with which their students are really connecting.
To practice and encourage the character strength of prudence with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions.
Next week, we will focus on Bravery.
Happy Birthday
