Our summer projects are coming along beautifully!
Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!
Our entire school team is looking forward to a wonderful first day. As you read through the Post you will find many important pieces of information. Please take some time to read each section, complete all the necessary annual paperwork, and submit it online or return it to school.
The Pine Run Parent Handbook has been updated for the 20234-2024 school year. It covers the ABC's of Pine Run. This alphabetical reference guide covers topics from attendance and homework to transportation and volunteers. It also includes unique information to Pine Run. It is located here, or you can find it on our school website. A paper copy can be made available upon request.
Essential for Day One: Arrival and dismissal are two very important times during the first week of school. Busses may run behind schedule, the car line may be long, but we will be here ready to greet each and every one of our students. A few reminders for our car riders, please pull into our car line and follow our signage. All students should exit from the passenger side and parents should remain in the car. This is for everyone's safety. We will have many staff members outside to help. Do not park and allow your child to cross the parking lot.
Our doors open for students at 8:15. We will have a great deal of staff on hand to help all of our students get to their classrooms, students can be walked to class by a Pine Run staff member if they are unsure of where to go. We ask that any first day photos are taken outside the building, prior to your child entering our school. We understand that some students may feel nervous or uneasy on the first day. Please reach out to our counselor, Mrs. Heim, (ELHEIM@CBSD.ORG) if you have any concerns you would like to share with us regarding first day jitters.
The summer reading challenge continues. Be sure to finish up those great books and receive the amazing rewards so graciously donated by our community partners, Jules, OWOWCOW, Playa Bowls, Philly Pretzel Factory, and Doylestown Bookshop.
A new school year brings with it hope and excitement. We understand that reconnecting with friends and joining a warm and positive classroom community is vital to starting off the year right. Pine Run teachers and staff are excited to welcome your children and begin what will be an epic academic journey, full of meaningful and engaging experiences. We are so grateful to open our doors and share the joy of learning with our students. Please reach out to your child's teacher, the office staff, or myself with any questions and concerns.

August SOAR Feather Winner!
Congratulations to this week's S.O.A.R winner, Miss. Brennan. Miss. Brennan, one of three second shift custodians, has demonstrated success by being safe, organized, accepting of others, respectful and responsible. We are beaming with pride because we know, Success Isn't Given, It's Earned!
Thank you Miss. Brennan for keeping our school clean and shinning bright. We also would like to thank Miss Brennan for five years of service here at Pine Run. This week she will transfer to Tohickon where she will continue to work with pride and dedication each and every day. Thank you for being a part of the Pine Run family, we hope you come back and visit the Nest!

A Shift in Specials
Beginning this year, we will have a shift in our specials (PE, Art, Music, QUEST, Library) rotation. Rather than following a day-of-the-week schedule for example, Art every Tuesday, we will follow a numerical rotation, Art every day 1. Each weekday is numbered 1-5. School begins Tuesday, September 5th and this is the first day 1. Classes scheduled for art on days numbered 1 will go to art on the first day of school. A sample schedule is below, this may not reflect your child's schedule. When there is a day off, rather than miss a special, the class will have that special on the next school day. Teachers will communicate the specials weekly. We will announce the specials on the announcements each morning. I will put a snapshot of the week in the post for families. The reason for the shift is to reduce the number of days students miss a particular special. These missed days add up to missed instruction and engagement with their specialist teachers. Our first scheduled day off is September 25th. Using the sample below this class is scheduled to have QUEST on 9/25. With the new rotation, they will have QUEST on Tues. 9/26 rather than missing it for the week. Students look forward to going to special area classes, especially their favorite ones. While there will certainly be some time for adjusting to the new rotation, I am confident our staff and families will easily settle in. Teachers will communicate special schedules shortly, if they have not done so already.

Little Bites Recycling Project
This Spring Mrs. Martin and her fifth-grade class initiated a Little Bites Recycling Project. She has reported it was a big success. As a school, we collected over 11 pounds of Little Bite wrappers in just a short amount of time. The company will make a donation to our school. Mrs. Martin is looking forward to continuing this project in the fall. Start saving your Little Bites wrappers and bring them to Pine Run on the first day of school.
Thanks for always helping to make a difference in our community.

Devices for 23-24 School Year
The 1 to 1 fee payment system is open in MyPaymentsPlus All Central Bucks’ students will either receive a device this year or continue to use the device that was issued last year.
- First Steps for Families: The first step prior to distribution is to enroll online and pay a usage fee. The usage fee covers the at-home and in-school use of a device, a charger, and insurance for accidental breaks. We have different pricing structures for elementary students as they will pay $15 a year and secondary families will pay $60 in 7th grade and $60 in 10th grade. Each payment for secondary will be good for three years. We have prorated payments for all secondary students who are new to Central Bucks.
- Read more about our plan and the next steps here: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1fee
- Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will take their laptop to and from school each day. All laptops must be carried inside a laptop case.
- Please Note: If your child is in need of financial assistance, we will begin taking applications for Free and Reduced Meals after August 24th. A child’s financial status for a fee being waive is determined by their lunch status. We highly encourage all families that think they may qualify to apply! Please note we will retroactively apply a credit to your account in MyPaymentsPlus if your child qualifies for a fee waiver.
- It has been a long, sunny summer, current 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students should locate their laptop, carrying case, and charger to ensure it is charged and ready for the first day of school, September 5th. Find more tips here.

Our swim and dive clinics are a great opportunity for athletes to develop their skills and get ready for team participation. Our next swim clinic is the pre-team swim clinic which will be held in September. Information is posted HERE. For returning team members, registration is open with a deadline of August 15th. Evaluations for potential new members are coming up soon. If interested, please visit the site to complete and email a pre-registration form. The next diving clinic will be in the spring, but new divers should consider the diving team described below.
Our next season for swim and dive teams will begin in the fall. We have two swim teams: CBST-SAL and CBST-USAS. We also have a diving team which is part of the SAL team. The SAL team can accommodate experienced competitive swimmers/divers and those new to the sport but is not a learn-to-swim program. The USAS team is for more experienced and committed swimmers. Information about all teams is posted HERE. For returning team members, registration is open with a deadline of August 15th. For potential new members, evaluations will be in September for the SAL team, including diving. If interested, please visit the site to complete and email a pre-registration form – ideally by early August. The USAS team evaluation window for this season has passed but if interested email Jennifer Steinberg at jsteinberg@cbsd.org to find out about the next opportunity to join the team.
