"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something...My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference."
From the Principal
We’ve had a fantastic start to the school year, and it’s hard to believe October is already here! The students have settled in wonderfully, and we’re excited for all the learning and activities ahead this fall. Friday, October 11th will be the end of the first nine weeks. Report cards will be sent home on Monday, October 28th. Thank you for your continued support as we make this year a great one!
October 2, 2024 is National Custodian Day. We want to take a moment to express our gratitude to Mr. Young, Mr. Mark, and Mr. Chris for the outstanding job they do every day. Their hard work ensures that our school remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and families. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated team
As the weather gets cooler, I know there is a tendency for students to want to stay in the warm car as long as possible each morning during drop-off. We make sure our front drop-off area is supervised from 7:00 until 7:50 each morning. If students will exit their cars before getting to the very front spot, it will keep our morning car line running quicker and smoother. We know you have places to go, so we want you to be able to get in and out as quickly as possible. Please make sure your child has all their belongings ready before leaving home so they exit the car quickly and safely when arriving at school.
I hope you have a restful, relaxing Fall Break. Fall Break will be Monday, October 14th through Friday, October 18th. Students will return on Monday, October 21st and we will be starting our second nine weeks.
We Are Battlefield.

BES School Academic Goals
Parents,
Each year, our teachers, academic coach, and administrators carefully review our school data to set clear academic goals that drive student success. After analyzing this year’s data and planning for the future, we are excited to share our strategic goals for the year ahead, designed to help our students reach new levels of achievement:
Strategic Goal 1:
The percentage of students (all grades) performing at Proficient and Distinguished will improve from 40.4% to 46% on the 2025 EOG Milestones ELA assessment.
Strategic Goal 2:
The percentage of students (all grades) performing at Proficient and Distinguished in each grade level will improve by 5% on the 2025 EOG Milestones Math Assessment.
3rd grade: 44% to 49%
4th grade: 47% to 52%
5th grade: 39% to 44%
Strategic Goal 3:
Our Map Fluency scores in the areas of Exceeds and Meets will increase from 57.8% to 70% on the Spring Map Fluency Assessment.
These goals are regularly reviewed and discussed. Our teachers meet twice weekly to create assessments, analyze data, and plan targeted lessons that will help our students succeed. With the dedication of our teachers and students, along with your continued support, we are confident that we will achieve these goals and help our students thrive.
Thank you for partnering with us on this journey!

BES 24/25 Teacher of the Year
Today, I would like to introduce the Battlefield Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Michelle Garcia. She is a 4th grade teacher and has been an educator for 27 years and all of those years have been at Battlefield.
Just so you get a picture of Mrs. Garcia, I asked the staff to give one word to describe her. Here are a few responses: Hardworking, Compassionate, Dedicated, Supportive, Mentor, Passionate.
Her students describe her as the teacher who truly listens, who makes learning feel exciting, and who encourages them to be their best every day. Mrs. Garcia embodies what Battlefield and CCPS stand for: Every student, Every day, Without Exception.
She goes above and beyond to inspire her students each and every day. Mrs. Garcia has a big heart for BES and ALL the students of the school. She has faced many obstacles, but she has never let them affect the way that she loves and supports her students. She shows up everyday with a smile on her face ready to give her best to her students.
Rita Pierson said: “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” This quote describes Michelle. She is definitely a champion for not only her students, but all BES students.
So today, I recognize Mrs. Garcia not only for her outstanding contributions to our school and our profession, but for the lasting impact she has made in the lives of her students.
Congratulations Mrs. Garcia!
Bus Driver Appreciation Day
Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day! We want to take a moment to recognize the amazing bus drivers who ensure our children travel safely to and from school every day. Their dedication, patience, and care are truly appreciated by our school community. On October 21, 2024, let’s show them some love and gratitude for all they do each and every day.
BES Veterans Day Program
We are excited to invite you to our Veterans Day program on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 10:00 AM. This year, we are excited to have our program at the new LFO theater. It will be a special opportunity for our students and community to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. We hope to see you there!

Catoosa County Updates
On September 23, 2024, Catoosa County Public Schools honored outstanding teachers at a luncheon held at the College and Career Academy. District administrators, board of education members, and principals gathered to celebrate the achievements of the Teacher of the Year from each school and to announce the District Teacher of the Year.
Superintendent Nix reminded the school Teachers of the Year that they represent the best of the best teachers in Catoosa’s excellent school system; however, only one could be selected as the district’s teacher of the year. He asked the group for a Drum Roll and announced Brittany Clarke, Ringgold Middle School, as Catoosa County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.
The event was a great celebration of the dedication, hard work, and positive impact that these teachers have on their students and the community.
