End of Course Assessments
In the state of Maryland, students must earn a credit in American Government and Life Science (Biology) in order to graduate high school. All students in these courses must take the state’s End of Course Exam (EOC) in May, and it will account for 20% of the students' final grade in these courses.
An End of Course Exam (EOC) is a state administered high school assessment, incorporated into local courses as a final exam with a percentage counting towards the students’ final course grade. The EOC Exam was adopted by the State Board on May 25, 2021. The EOC Exam will comprise 20% of the student’s grade in the relevant course. (Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.03.02.06) As a result, the final grade for students taking American Government and Life Science will be calculated in the following manner. Each marking period will make up 20% of the grade and the EOC will comprise the final 20%. In other words, MP1 20% + MP2 20% + MP3 20% + MP4 20% + EOC 20% = 100% of the final grade for the course. It will be incredibly important that students work hard throughout the school year in order to prepare for the course EOC as it will have a direct impact on their final grade and GPA. According to the expectations set by the Maryland State Department of Education, students will not be allowed to retake the state test to improve their overall grade.
For students who are taking AP United States Government and Politics or AP Biology to earn a credit in American Government or Life Science, they must pass the course and take the AP exam to meet the graduation requirement.
For more information about an EOC and specific information regarding the high school American Government and Life Science MISA exams, please visit the Maryland State Department of Education’s website or reach out to your student's assistant principal.

EF Tours Trip to Europe (Health Science Focus)
Dear families,
We’re going to Edinburgh, London, & Paris in Summer 2026, and you’re invited!
We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please visit https://rsvp.eftours.com/km3t2rc to register for the informational meeting that is being held on Tues. Oct. 15th 6:00 PM @ PHS.
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
In this info session, we’ll talk about:
- How this opportunity will benefit your student
- What we’ll see and do on our trip
- Everything that’s included in this experience
- How your child can earn academic credit
- How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
- How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
Thanks,
Larry Sickels
Please note this is a non-school sponsored trip.
Parking at PHS 2024-2025
It is with great excitement we announce that the new Perryville Panther Field House project mobilized today! This has been a very long awaited project, and that is an understatement. There will be some small impacts to traffic, parking, and stadium use but it will be minimal. The parking spaces numbered 256-262 and 224-240 in the picture below, will be utilized for building materials, construction equipment and the folks' cars who are doing this awesome work!
Students need to apply for a parking permit. Students must provide the required information on the application and adhere to all driving/parking rules and regulations. The cost of the Parking Permit is $10. Student vehicles may be inspected any day by administration to ensure they have a valid parking pass and are parking in their assigned parking spot.
Consideration will be given to students in the prioritized “need to drive/park” manner as follows, as long as spaces are available:
SENIORS as follows:
Dual Enrollment Courses at Cecil College, Senior Waiver, Senior Option, ECA
Extra-Curricular Activities
Work or family need
Parking permits will be sold to juniors following the same order of priority if spots are available.
Parking Permit applications will be made available to Senior students on September 9th to the 13th. Parking Permit applications will be made available to Juniors on September 16th to 20th. Please direct any questions about student parking to Mr. Drew, Assistant Principal at Perryville High School (jdrew@ccps.org). The diagram below shows the available parking spaces for students to use.
1:1 Chromebooks for Students
