Longhorn Ledger
October 16- October 18
Principal Press
Hello Longhorn Families,
We hope that this message finds each of you and your families safe and well. Never did we think that two weeks in a row our newsletter would start by checking in on our Longhorns affected by devastating hurricanes, but here we are hoping that each of our Longhorn students and families are safe and well. As we prepare to welcome everyone back to school tomorrow after the impact of Hurricane Milton, we want to take a moment to check in on each of you. The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities, and we understand that this has been a challenging time for many here in Pasco county.
Please let us know if you or your family need any assistance or support as we transition back to our regular schedule. Our school counselors and support staff are available to help with any concerns you may have. We look forward to providing routine and care for students as they return. This week we still have some events scheduled. See below for some of this weeks upcoming events.
UPDATE: Monday, October 21, is now a regular school day for students. It will not be a Teacher Planning Day.
Football Game: This weeks football game has been rescheduled and our next game will be next Tuesday at Home vs. TEWMS.
Volleyball: Our volleyball team will play Monday an intersquad JV/Varsity game this Thursday 10/17 @6pm. Parents and students are welcome, come out and cheer on our Longhorns!
Basketball Tryouts: Will be on 10/18 and 1-/21 @3:30pm in the gym. Make sure all paperwork is completed.
Advent Center Ice Skate Night: Help support are school and join us on 10/25 from 7:30pm-9:30pm for a Halloween skate night.

Science Instructional Materials Adoption
The Pasco County School District is participating in a full-scale K-12 adoption of Science instructional materials aligned to the Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science. We would like to invite you to be part of the narrowing team, which serves to review and narrow the materials submitted by publishers during the adoption process. To submit your interest for an opportunity to serve on the narrowing team, please complete this form. There is an 8-10 evening commitment for this work. A detailed list of courses to be reviewed, dates, and times of narrowing team commitments are available on the instructional materials adoption website. The deadline to submit your interest is September 20, 2024. Parents/guardians selected through the randomized screening process will be notified by October 7 via email. We appreciate your partnership in this very important work.
