Fire Prevention Week
Thank you Lower Southampton Fire Dept!!
Second Grade
Second grade students had fun practicing their estimation and measurement skills using pumpkins! During Pumpkin Math, we estimated the weight, circumference and number of seeds in our pumpkins. We then weighed and measured our pumpkins and counted all the seeds inside!! Parents then helped students carve their pumpkins! What a fun way to use our math skills!
Physical Education
Students are practicing basketball skills in the Gym.
Red Ribbon Week
TAWANKA WENT RED!
The Tawanka Family supported the National Red Ribbon Week Campaign, October 22-26, 2018. An event that has been providing drug awareness, information, and support, since 1985.
The students’ main goals were to be proud of themselves, and to be their best advocate against drug abuse. They showed their commitment to a drug free school by taking the red ribbon pledge, and hanging red ribbons, with encouraging statements, on the trees in front of the school. The week had many opportunities for the students to strive for a drug free life. There were positive drug free suggestions made during the morning announcements, special dress code days, and they even sang a silly song. Tawanka is very proud of the commitment our students made during the red ribbon week.

Lost and Found
Our lost and found bins are over flowing! Please have your children check the bins for lost items as soon as possible. It is helpful to label your child’s coat, book bag and lunch box so we can return lost belongings to your student.
We will be donating these items at the end of each month.
Sidewalk Chalk
Our sidewalk chalk supply is dwindling at recess. We would greatly appreciate any donations of sidewalk chalk for the students to utilize during recess.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Holiday Assistance
If your child is enrolled in the Free Lunch Program, you may be eligible for additional assistance from outside sources. We are contacting clubs and organizations in the area on your behalf to make a truly “Happy Holiday” for your family.
Since we do not know how many organizations will respond to our appeal, we cannot guarantee what type or amount of gifts your children will receive. These donations may be in the form of food, gifts or gift certificates. Any information shared with us will remain confidential.
Please contact the nurse’s office or Mrs. Duffy for further information.
