AMS Weekly Update
Monday, September 30 - Friday, October 4, 2024
Dear Adams Middle School Families,
I am honored to introduce you to our new Assistant Principal, Juliette Abbott! Mrs. Juliette Abbott comes to us from Franklin Middle School with 21 years of high school and middle school classroom experience, having taught theatre, visual arts, social studies, and yoga. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Aquinas College, and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Abbott spent over a decade as the curriculum coordinator for Fine Arts and Electives at Oak Park High School. Mrs. Abbott is delighted to be a member of the Adams family and thanks everyone for their warm welcome.
We have noticed a significant increase in the number of students arriving late to school, and we want to emphasize the importance of getting to school on time. First-hour tardies and late arrivals are counted toward truancy, which can have serious implications for your child’s attendance record.
School begins promptly at 7:50 AM, and it is crucial that your child arrives on time. When students are late, it not only disrupts their own academic progress but also impacts their ability to mentally prepare for the school day. Regular lateness can lead to missed learning opportunities and difficulty keeping up with classwork, which in turn affects their overall academic performance.
Please help ensure that your child starts their day right by arriving at school on time. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated and essential to your child's success.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Bukosky and Mrs. Abbott

Purses and Handbags
This is a reminder about our school policy on the size of purses students are permitted to bring. Purses should not be larger than 8 inches wide by 5 inches tall.
We’ve recently observed some students carrying larger bags, which goes against this policy. Please make sure your student’s purse complies with the size limit. If you have any questions please let us know.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, is a time to recognize the rich cultural contributions and historical impact of the Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. The month-long observance begins on September 15, marking the anniversary of independence for several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence days shortly after, on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Hispanic Heritage Month also serves as an opportunity to engage with the diverse traditions, languages, and values that shape Latino communities, creating a greater understanding and unity across the nation.
