Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On Monday, January 20th, we reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a champion for justice, equality, and peace. We encourage everyone at home and school to continue conversations about his powerful message of kindness, unity, and standing up for what is right.
No School on Monday, January 20th
There will be no school on Monday, January 20th, due to a scheduled professional development day for staff. School will resume on Tuesday, January 21st.
5th/6th Grade Spelling Bee
We are excited that this week the 5th/6th grade spelling bee will take place on Thursday, January 23rd, at 2:30 PM in the gym. The top SIX will move on to the county spelling bee, which will be on Tuesday, February 11th at 10 AM---MJSHS auditorium.
Cold Weather Reminder
With colder temperatures upon us, please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately. Students should have coats, gloves, hats, and any other cold-weather gear they may need to stay warm during outdoor recess. If your family needs assistance with winter clothing, please contact the office--we're here to help.
As always, thank you for your support and partnership in your child's education. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warm Regards,

Counseling Lessons Last Week!
During counseling lessons this last week, we learned about empathy. We learned that empathy is understanding and connecting with other people's feelings. During the lessons we participated in a variety of games and activities. One of the activities we did in third grade was spell out the word empathy with their bodies! Students had to think outside of the box and be creative!
Dads at the Door! π«π
The next, Dads at the Door, will be on Tuesday, January 21st. Come join in on the fun!

Parent HANDBOOK Policy
Marysville Elementary is committed to academic growth for all students. Assessments are a critical part of measuring student progress and guiding instruction.
Our school uses the CHAMPS Framework to promote a positive learning environment. Students demonstrating readiness, respectfulness, and responsibility may receive positive office referrals and recognition.
We have a matrix system that we use for minor, moderate, and major infractions. Minor infractions (disruptive behavior, non-compliance, etc.) are typically handled by the classroom teacher and may result in a think sheet, parent contact, or detention. Moderate infractions (chronic minor behaviors, threats, cheating, etc.) may result in those previously listed as well as an office referral or suspension. Major infractions (chronic behaviors, violence, etc.) are handled by administrators and you will be notified to discuss the consequences further. For more information see our Behavior System Handbook on the USD 364 website.
January 21-24~ Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Please note for lunch, there is only one option at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and will notify families when this changes. Please keep in mind that the students are offered salad, veggies, and fruit from the salad bar daily.
