Rāmere Friday 9th Paenga-whāwhā April (T1: Wk10 of 11)
Our Tumuaki Principal
Kia ora koutou.
I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter break with whanau and friends.
Here are some snippets from me...
- Term Two Teacher Only Days - Next term we have two Teacher Only Days.
- Tuesday 11th of May - This coincides with the Secondary School Accord Days and it is in conjunction with our Kahui Ako Community of Learning and so all the member schools, (Menzies, Wyndham, Glenham, Tuturau, Tokanui, Gorge Road, Edendale) are joining together for shared professional development.
- Friday 4th June - This tags onto Queen's Birthday Weekend. We will be getting all our first aid certificates updated and refreshed.
- ANZAC Day - A big thank you to Jack Ramage for putting up our ANZAC poppies and crosses as we prepare our school for ANZAC day on Sunday 25th April. Our Student Council will lay a wreath on behalf of the school. School students can march in the parade. They must be in full correct uniform. Wearing a poppy is encouraged. It starts at 9.00am but we would like all children who are participating to be there by 8.40am.
- Attendance - One important thing that we have noticed with our move to PR1ME Mathematics is how important attendance is to ensure learning momentum is maintained in maths. Children who have irregular attendance develop mathematic learning gaps. They miss out and get behind. The rest of their group moves forward into new material and they don't. We classify good attendance as being 90%+. Anything below this has an undermining impact on what we are trying to do for your children. Help us help your child by maintaining a strong attendance routine and habit for your child/ren.
Thank Yous - Team Edendale
- Student Council - Our Student Council are an integral part of the leadership structure here at school. They step up and step forward, to provide student leadership for the children. This week, as part of their termly compassion fundraiser, they organised Onesie Wednesday a fundraiser for autism. It is great to see them leading our children in showing empathy and support for others in our community.

Our Home and School
Home and School Fundraiser - Thank you
On behalf of the Home and School we would like to sincerely thank all the helpers for coming along and giving up your time to cut firewood. All in there were about 20 Dads and children that helped out on the day with tractors, log splitters and chainsaws. It really does prove many hands make light work and an estimated 50 cubic metres of old man pine was cut.
The wood is currently in a great spot under some trees drying out.
At a later date we will advertise the wood for sale but if you want to get an early order in please contact Hamish Blackmore 027 636 0421.
