Hello from the Art Room!
Bridlemile students LOVE working with clay but without a working kiln, our projects are a bit limited. With a little creative problem solving, Ms. G was able to use the kiln at her other school (yes! she teaches at two schools) so 5th grade students could do a ceramics project. They created pinch-pot creatures. As you can see, penguins were a popular choice, but there were many fun critters.
All grades will be bringing home their sketchbooks soon! These are filled with our warm up drawings and other fun art. Please ask your child to show you!
Do you have any kid-friendly magazines at home? Magazines with lots of pictures (nature, food, people, animals, places) work best. The art room could use a few for collage projects. Feel free to drop them off in the office for us!
Thanks!
Ms. G
Celebrating Pride Month
June is Pride Month—a time to celebrate love, identity, and the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect. Pride Month is one way we can honor the diversity in our Bridlemile community and support every student & their families in feeling safe, respected, and proud of who they are.
The counseling office has some new books from GlSEN’S Rainbow Library on display this month (see below) for students to check out! The district’s LGBTQ2SIA+ Supports webpage is a great starting point for finding information regarding rights, services available within PPS, social groups and resources in the Portland metro area, and basic educational resources.
As the school year comes to a close, we’ve been wrapping up our K–2 classroom counseling lessons by celebrating all the amazing growth that has happened this year! In our final lessons together, we reflected on all of the different ways we’ve grown:
Our bodies grow – We might be taller or stronger than we were in the fall!
Our brains grow – We’ve learned new things everyday–like how to read, count, and more!
Our friendships grow – We’ve made new friends and worked through problems together.
Our confidence grows – We’ve tried new things, spoken up more, and believed in ourselves!
Field Day!
2025 Field Day is scheduled for Friday, June 6th! Coach Glenn has planned many fun field day stations for our beagles.
Please sign up HERE to lead one of the field day stations for another fun year of play!
Field day will be divided into two separate sessions:
8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. - Session 1 (K-2)
Volunteers check in at the Bridlemile office at 8:20 a.m. Sign in on our volunteer laptop, grab your volunteer badge, and report to duty!
- 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Session 2 (3-5)
- Volunteers check in at the Bridlemile office at 12:05 p.m. Sign in on our volunteer laptop, grab your volunteer badge, and report to duty!
All Library Books returned by today, May 30th!
As we head into the final weeks of school, the library is preparing for summer—and we need your help! All library books must be returned by May 30th. Returning books on time helps us spend our budget on new and exciting books instead of replacing lost ones.
Not sure where that missing book went? Try checking under beds, in closets, backpacks, cars, and even between couch cushions—books have a way of hiding in the funniest places!
A huge thank you to our incredible library volunteers who’ve helped make this year a success—we couldn’t have done it without you!
Lost and Found
Please come check out the Lost and Found collection. We will be rolling out our Lost and Found collection to the back playground area this Friday and next Friday.
We will be donating all unclaimed Lost and Found items to the PPS Clothing Closet at the end of the school year! Please put Beagles names on clothing so we can reunite you!
Employer Matching Program for 2025-26 School Supplies
Does your employer have a matching program? Many direct donations are matched by employers as part of corporate matching programs. Thank you (and your employer) for supporting Bridlemile!
School Supplies for 2025-26
As we celebrate all our achievements this year, we are getting ready and looking towards plans for next year.
This year was the first year Bridlemile tried purchasing school supplies in bulk, and it was a success! We plan to continue this going forward.
Bridlemile school will purchase school supplies in bulk for all our K-5 students. This ensures that students have all the needed materials that the homeroom teacher has requested and that each student has the same items. This will also reduce the cost of supplies for families.
Please consider making a $35 contribution per student in your family in order to offset the cost of these supplies.
If this contribution request would cause a hardship for your family, please note that payment is not required in order for your student(s) to receive supplies. All Bridlemile students will receive school supplies.
You are welcome to contribute the amount that your family is comfortable with or even consider contributing an additional amount on behalf of another student. All contributions will be used to pay for classroom supplies and may include paying for substitutes, additional supplies, and curriculum materials.
You will receive a tax-deductible receipt with your donation.
Thank you for contributing!
