ACADEMIC and CAREER PLANNING
- Students were engaged in a community building activity and completed a lesson on Self Advocacy, Stress and Time Management and began their learner profile. They also completed a lesson on values.
What's Next:
- Lessons in November will focus on Digital Literacy: Social Media and our Digital Footprints, self control and focus, and updating Xello interest inventories. We will begin 2024-25 registration prep in December.

- Lessons in November will focus on self-advocacy, digital literacy and conflict resolution. Students will begin to prepare for 2025-26 registration in December.

UPCOMING:
ADVANCED PLACEMENT
- The deadline to order exams without the $40 late fee for AP classes that are term 1, term 2 or yearlong courses is November 12, 2024 at 11:59PM. For more information, please review the 2024-25 AP Details
ASVAB
- This assessment will take place on November 7th. For details, please review the ASVAB Details Document
PREVIOUS ASSESSMENTS:
PreACT
- Students who took this exam should expect to receive their scores in the mail the week of November 4-8, 2024. Students can find information about how to review their scores and prepare for the ACT on the Student Services website under Assessments and PreACT
PSAT/NMSQT
- Students who took this exam should expect to receive scores in the mail by the first part of December.
College and Career Connections
National Apprenticeship Week
We will celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. Representatives from DWD and WI Apprenticeship and Youth Apprenticeship will be here during Future Week, November 19-21 to share opportunities during all three lunches.
CVTC
CVTC Rep at RFHS
CVTC will have a rep on campus every Thursday in November during WIN. Students are welcome to stop by and ask questions and learn more!
CVTC High School Academies
Applications opened November 1 for the 2025-26 school year. Interested students should apply early. There are two steps to complete. Find these and more on the Student Services/Counseling website under Capstone Learning Opportunities and CVTC High School Academies.
CVTC Open House
- On Thursday, November 6, CVTC will host our Fall Open House at both our Eau Claire AND River Falls Campuses simultaneously. The event is specifically for prospective students and their friends/families/supporters and runs from 3:30 pm – 7pm. Participants are encouraged to RSVP at https://www.cvtc.edu/events/fall-open-house. This is a great event for prospective students to meet instructors for the career paths they are interested in.
Rotary Youth Exchange Informational Meeting
An informational meeting will be held November 3, 2024 at 7pm. See the event poster for details.
Future Week for November
There are many post-secondary reps (businesses, colleges, and military) joining us during all three lunches in Future Week. Students will have the opportunity to connect with these individuals to learn more about options!

For students seeking job opportunities, the High School Job Board is an excellent resource. It's regularly updated with new listings, so be sure to check back often. Whether you’re searching for part-time jobs, internships, or roles connected to Youth Apprenticeship, this is an ideal starting point for your job hunt.

Technical College Tours
River Falls High School will be taking students on college visits to Dakota County Technical College, Northwood Tech, and CVTC Eau Claire. These visits will consist of an informational session as well as a tour. Junior and Senior students are able to register on a first-come first-serve basis, as we will only be able to take 1 bus.
CVTC Wednesday, November 13, 2024 (8:30-12:30 back for 3rd)
Northwood Tech - Wed, Dec 11, 2024 (10:00-2:00) Campus Lunch Provided
Dakota County Tech Wednesday, February 5, 2025 (8:15-12:15 back for 2nd &3rd)
All students are responsible for any homework missed during the school day and are required to ask their teachers for any assignments prior to the college visit. Students will get detailed information about the trip (including schedule, meeting time, and lunch plans if needed) in the days before.

Allina Scrub Club
Allina Hospital in River Falls will host the 2nd Scrub Club event of 2024-25 on November 14th from 6-8pm. The event is free to attend. The focus will be Emergency Medicine and Stop the Bleed training.
Selective Service
Any male students who are 18 may choose to register for Selective Service.
