Safety Reminders
Drop-off & Pick-up Safety
School drop-off and pick-up times can feel both frustrating and hectic as families from both school sites converge to this one location at about the same time. Unfortunately, we've had some close calls and dangerous situations so I urge you to take extra precaution and have patience for our walkers, cyclists, and other vehicles.
- Do not stop to drop off or pick up in the bike lanes or crosswalks. This restricts visibility and forces our bike riders to veer into traffic lanes having to go around vehicles. We have bike riders as young as 1st grade who attended the bike safety course and follow the rules of the road...drivers need to as well. Prioritize safety over convenience.
- Be careful and alert driving through the parking lot and around the neighborhood especially at these peak times. Please refrain from speeding or being distracted on your phone. Make eye contact with students trying to cross at a stop sign.
- Kindness Matters. Please be respectful and follow the guidance of our staff and crossing guards without argument. Their primary goal and purpose is to keep kids safe and secondarily to maintain a safe and timely flow of traffic. Frustrating moments happen. Be mindful how you express that frustration-- our kids are watching.
