Principal's Message
We hope everyone had a good start to the month of October! We are fast approaching one of our milestones for the year, that being Thanksgiving which is one week away.
With the warm weather making a comeback and temperatures reaching the 20’s this week, are we approaching Thanksgiving or August long?
The hockey season is also making a comeback with the NHL officially starting this week. We have lots of hockey fans in our community and whether you are an Oilers fan, or an Oilers fan, good luck!
A bit of reflection on our last couple of weeks before we highlight the start of the new month.
What a special day we had as a school community as we embraced the Cougar Run. The Cougar Run is a signature event and tradition that has been at Heights for decades.
We spoke at the school assembly of Terry Fox and all that he represented. We are proud of how our students conducted themselves and the compassion and empathy they have shown.
Last Friday was our Orange Shirt Day which is a day of remembrance and an act of reconciliation. It is an opportunity for First Nations, Métis and Inuit; local governments; schools; and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
Student marks, due dates for assignments, and other important information are live and populating in PowerSchool. Should you have any questions on how to navigate your settings, please do not hesitate to ask. Looking ahead, Parent-Student-Teacher interviews are on October 24 and 29. Stay tuned on how you can book a time.
Also, our scheduled School Council is on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the library. We will be sending our agenda out ahead of time as well.
In closing, we wish our families a Happy Thanksgiving!
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
