PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello North!
Our first week and a half of school has been fantastic! We're excited to get to know our new students and continue building strong relationships with both new and returning faces. We can't wait to see all the amazing things this school year has in store for us!
Proud Principal Moment: Last spring, the New York State School Music Association hosted the annual solo festival. We has a number of North Student Musicians work diligently to prepare for an audition for state-certified adjudicators to qualify them for one of the eight All-State honors ensembles. Over 7,000 students auditions throughout the state and only 890 were selected, including 13 of our North musicians!! Congratulations to the following students who were selected to participate and will be performing at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester this December:
Ben Antersol
Connor Brown
Kristine Bui
Jay Bush
Joseph Eppich
Julia Grieco
Max Hakansson
Ethan Hart
Samantha Harvey
Kai Park
Jade Sun
Jessica Zhang
Emily Zhuang
Great job to all!!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Open House on Tuesday, September 17!
Proudly Your Principal,
Andrew Bowen

The Snack Shack - Volunteers Needed!
The school store is our PTSA’s main source of income for all the student programs, events and scholarships that we support each year. The store sells healthy snacks & beverages, and is a student favorite! It is open the full school day, three shifts per day, throughout the year and requires many volunteers to keep it open. If you’re able to work weekly or monthly, our volunteer coordinator will work with your schedule. You will receive emails periodically thru WITS and thru our PTSA memberhub to sign up for available shifts. It is a great way to serve our students and be a small part of your student’s day. Consider volunteering with a friend (or grandparent)…make it a team effort! Please email: snackerrs@yahoo.com for more information.
SIGN UP NOW BY CLICKING ON THE SNACK SHACK PHOTO!!!
In addition to our school store, we have many events during the year for which we need volunteers – some daytime, some evening. Please keep an eye out for emails regarding these volunteer opportunities. Typically we will send them out via WITSMail or Memberhub. Look for more opportunities to help out the students and to engage with the school.

CALENDAR AND IMPORTANT EVENTS
Safety Drills - September 12 - 18
The safety of our students and school staff is very important to us. One of the ways we stay safe is by holding school safety drills. To help us practice and learn, we will be having a safety drill next week. The safety drill we will practice between Sept 12 and Sept 18 is a fire drill and building evacuation. Before we practice a drill, teachers have reviewed evacuation procedures with their students.
School Picture Day
Williamsville North High School student picture days will take place in all physical education classes on the following days:
Wednesday, September 11th
Thursday, September 12th
All students will receive a school photo for their school ID. School IDs are used for identification while on school grounds, including entry into extracurricular functions, such as dances. Any senior who did not get their senior photo taken through the school photographer this summer, will be required to get their photo taken for their school ID. No costumes, including face coverings and costume make-up, or hats will be permitted for these photos. To pre-order school pictures, please go to https://shop.imagequix.com/g1001133157

Open House
Williamsville North High School Open House is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The evening has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to follow your child's schedule, navigate the building and meet teachers, staff and administrators. Please bring a printed copy or screenshot of your child's schedule with you to the program. This will be the schedule that you will follow for the evening. Please do not rely on the internet to access your child's schedule, as technology can be unreliable. You will report directly to the child's first period class at 6:00 PM. We will have student ambassadors in the halls to assist with navigation and questions. During your classes, teachers will provide you with an overview of their courses, class expectations, and their grading process. If your child's schedule includes a study hall or a free mod, you are invited to the downstairs dining room where the North PTSA will be set up. You can also visit the Planetarium, with a Transition Team member in the senior dining room, or with our school counselors in the Library. Attendance for Open House is strongly encouraged. We are confident that you will find this program to be very informative.

Seal of Civic Readiness
The District’s application to offer the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Seal of Civic Readiness program at each of our high schools was approved for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Seal of Civic Readiness is a formal distinction on a student’s high school transcript and diploma that they have attained a high level of proficiency in terms of civic knowledge, skills, mindset, and civic experiences. It can also be used as a graduation pathway.
In order to obtain the Seal of Civic Readiness, a student must complete all the requirements for a New York State local or Regents diploma and earn a total of six points with at least two points in Civic Knowledge and at least two points in Civic Participation (Chart is on p.7 of the SCR Handbook).

Early Dismissal / Late Arrival Procedures for Parents of Juniors and Seniors
If you are interested in requesting an early dismissal or late arrival (seniors only) for your child, and haven’t already done so, please WITSmail your child's guidance counselor from your PARENT account and let them know you would like to request early dismissal or late arrival (seniors only). Include your student's name, grade level and the time you are requesting release. Approval is contingent up on your student having a free period at the end of the day.
You will receive a WITS mail confirmation from your child's administrator once they have been approved and that their "Early Release Card" is ready to be picked up from the main office. Students may not leave the building until they have received the confirmation WITSmail and their early release card.
Dropping Off Items for your Student
If you are dropping off an item for your student, please bring it to the main entrance on Dodge Road. Please ensure the item is labeled with the student’s name. For your convenience, post-it notes are available in our attendance lobby. For sanitary reasons, we ask that any clothing items or shoes be placed in a bag before dropping these items off. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Parents are asked to please drop their students off in the morning and pick their students up in the afternoon via the Hopkins Road parking lot. Please see below for a diagram. Thank you!
