Message from Administration
As we move into the 2nd half of the school year, we want to thank our families for their ongoing support of our students. December 20 marks the end of quarter 2. We ask that you review your child's grades for quarter 2 when reports cards are issued on January 10. This a perfect time for students to set goals for the second portion of the school year.
We hope our families have a great winter break. We look forward to seeing our students in the building on Wednesday, January 8.
eLearning Days
On December 23, 2024, and January 6, 2025, our district will implement designated eLearning days, requiring students to complete assignments before returning to school on January 8. These assignments will primarily be paper-based with minimal computer involvement, ensuring students can engage in learning regardless of technological constraints. We understand that some families may have pre-existing travel plans and are committed to being as accommodating as possible while still adhering to state guidelines. However, it is crucial to note that students who do not complete the assigned work will be marked as unexcused absent. Parents and guardians are asked to support their students by ensuring completion.
Quarter Two Student of the Month Breakfast
Our Quarter Two Students of the Month were celebrated yesterday with a donut breakfast! Congratulations to each of these incredible students!
Kindergarten Sing-A-Long
This week our kindergarten students had their annual sing-a-long, and they did amazing! Thank you to the parents and families who showed up to support our smallest performers and thank you to our kindergarten team for organizing this event!
3rd-5th Grade Chorus
The Coosa Chorus had several performances this week, and we want to take a moment to congratulate them for a wonderful job at their various performances (a tree lighting ceremony, a school-wide assembly, and their Winter Concert). Also, a big thank you to Mrs. Smith (Music Teacher) for taking on the big job of leading 99 students and doing it so well!
Chorus Performance Reflection
Thank you to our families for coming to the Winter Chorus concert on Tuesday. We appreciate your support of our chorus program. Our chorus students dedicated many hours to learning the lyrics of the songs and practicing appropriate performance etiquette. They were excellent!! However, we would like to extend our apologies to our families for the behavior of some audience members who did not adhere to proper audience etiquette. Despite starting the program with an announcement from a student emphasizing the importance of etiquette and making additional reminders during the show, some attendees continued to engage in conversation or allowed their children to do so throughout the performance. We genuinely regret that we could not manage this situation effectively.
Moving forward, we are actively discussing ways to enhance the chorus performance in the Spring, ensuring that our students feel heard while allowing our families to enjoy the show from beginning to end.
Habits for a Happy Home
“Be Proactive" - Using Positive Language
This week, we ask that families continue to focus on Habit 1, Be Proactive, by discussing the power of language. You can emphasize the importance of using positive language when facing challenges. Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” encourage them to say, “I’ll try my best,” or “I’ll figure it out.” At home, you can model how to reframe negative thoughts into positive ones. This shift in mindset empowers your child to approach problems with a can-do attitude and resilience.
Coosa Running Club Wants Your Shoes
Are you looking to clean out those unwanted shoes this holiday season? Looking for a place to donate them? Look no further, the Coosa Running Club will take them all! For a 5th year, the Coosa Running Club is teaming up with Grounded Running to collect shoes for those in need. Students can bring in any type of shoes in any condition during the month of January. With your help, and the support of our community, we have raised over 5,000 pairs of shoes! There will be boxes in the front lobby in January for shoes to be placed.
