Welcome to the Latest Edition of Tap Into Maple Run!
Each week, we highlight the moments that make our district a place of learning, connection, and growth. From student achievements to meaningful community partnerships, it is inspiring to see the dedication of our staff, students, and families in action.
Engaging with Our Community
This past Monday, January 27, marked an important milestone as our community hosted our first Legislative Breakfast at Saint Albans City Hall, bringing together leaders and community members to discuss the future of education in our district. Thoughtful conversations like these help shape the policies and initiatives that support our students and staff.
Meanwhile, at SATEC, first graders participated in a Play & Stay event after school, filling the space with laughter and joy. It was wonderful to see students relaxed, engaged, and having fun with their peers and teachers.
Advocacy & Partnership in Action
On Wednesday, January 29, our NCTC students, along with many Maple Run staff members, participated in the 10th Annual Mental Health Advocacy Day in Montpelier. Whether attending in person or remotely, their involvement in this important event emphasized the critical role of mental health awareness and advocacy in education.
The following evening, Thursday, January 30, we saw the strength of our community partnerships at the Community Summit at City Hall. This event brought together a diverse group of voices, all working toward a shared goal of strengthening our Maple Run community. The turnout and engagement were a testament to the collective effort of so many invested in our schools and students.
Ending the Week with Smiles
Friday, January 31, was all about fun at St. Albans City School, where first and second graders, along with their families, enjoyed a Beach Party filled with music, laughter, and excitement. These moments of joy and connection remind us of the importance of creating spaces where students can thrive socially and emotionally.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward, I encourage everyone to stay engaged in upcoming district events and initiatives. Your involvement helps shape the future of Maple Run, and I am grateful for the continued support of our incredible community.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we are making a difference!
Meet BFA’s Social Workers: Lance Metayer & Cori Enos
Bellows Free Academy is fortunate to have a dedicated team of professionals supporting student well-being, including Mental Health Counselor Lance Metayer and Social Worker Corretta "Cori" Enos. Both bring unique experiences and a deep commitment to helping students navigate challenges and build resilience.
Lance Metayer has a background in residential care, direct service, and management, giving him a well-rounded perspective on student support. At BFA, he provides mental health counseling, substance use prevention education, and social-emotional learning (SEL) guidance. He enjoys the variety in his role and the opportunity to make meaningful connections with students. When he’s not at BFA, Lance enjoys woodworking, particularly turning bowls on a lathe—a hands-on craft that helps him stay centered.
Cori Enos took a unique path to social work, beginning her career in mathematics before discovering her passion for student support while teaching in an alternative program. She now works closely with students at BFA, helping them develop strong relationships, overcome obstacles, and build confidence in themselves. Her compassionate and student-centered approach ensures that every student feels heard and supported.
Lance and Cori play an essential role in fostering a positive and inclusive environment at BFA. Their dedication and expertise make a lasting impact on the students they work with every day.
