Parent Call to Action
Hello Amazing ECMCS Parents!
We need YOU to help shape the future of our school! ECMCS stands where it is today thanks to the dedication of families and governing boards who worked tirelessly to secure bonds, build our first school in I’On, and later establish a partnership with CCSD that allowed us to move into our current building.
Now, it’s time to raise our voices once again! We must advocate for the approval of our much-needed gymnasium as part of CCSD’s upcoming sales tax referendum project list. Without strong community support, our gym may not make the cut — but together, we can make it happen!
Why does ECMCS need a gym?
ECMCS is a thriving Montessori school, proudly sponsored by CCSD, but we lack a dedicated space for physical education, sports, and community events. Our athletics program is growing rapidly, with volleyball, tennis, and basketball teams, complete with cheerleaders and our very own Cooper the Eagle mascot. We are eager to expand with additional opportunities like golf, baseball, and cross country.
ECMCS has already invested over $1 million in improving a property that belongs to CCSD, yet as a charter school, we lack traditional funding routes for capital projects. Now, we need CCSD to invest in our future.
A dedicated gym will provide:
- A Home for Athletics – A space for physical education, sports teams, and healthy movement, and many community events.
- A Protected Space - A dedicated space for activities out of the SC sun and rainy days. Our PE teacher is the only one in CCSD without a proper space for class, leaving students exposed to extreme weather conditions.
- A Hub for Community – A place for school events, assemblies, and student celebrations.
How can you help?
We need parents, friends, and community members to advocate for our gym by making public comments and attending upcoming CCSD board meetings.
We need you to advocate at these meetings!
