January Character Trait - Perseverance
For the month of January, the character trait we are focusing on is Perseverance. Perseverance is pushing yourself to work through difficult times and outcomes. We all have moments when we feel like we can not do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up.
Ways you can help your child learn perseverance at home is by engaging in difficult tasks with them. Buy a large puzzle, learn and perfect a new skill, etc. Find something to do together and commit to pushing each other through the challenge. It could be a week-long challenge where each person in the family commits to 1 thing they will do each day this week. Maybe it is flossing, drinking a certain amount of water, getting to bed at a certain time, limiting screen time, or exercising. Create a place where each person can tally their progress and see who can keep their streak going the longest!
Here are a few books that talk about perseverance that can help you learn more about it:
The Curious Garden by Peter Brown
The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires
The Dot by Peter Reynolds

FAMILIES IN TRANSITION (FIT) PROGRAM
The Families in Transition (FIT) Program is here to assist Chief Charlo students and families experiencing housing instability (McKinney-Vento Act) and/or economic hardship. FIT works as a bridge between those families, our school and the district staff to empower students to stay in school and remain successful both in school and as lifelong learners. FIT also provides families access to community resources and services.
FIT is here to support your family, because we care about all of our Wolves - BIG and small!!
