Message from Dr. Correa
Dear D56 Families,
I want to thank you for your understanding and flexibility over the past couple of weeks as we all had to navigate the inclement weather. I also want to acknowledge the entire staff in D56, from teachers to custodians, bus drivers, aides, lunchroom supervisors and all other staff who play a vital role in making sure learning continues despite what mother nature sends our way.
On another note, we have officially started the second half of the school year as the end of 2nd Quarter was last week. Report cards will be available in Skyward today at 4pm. If you need assistance accessing your child’s report card, please contact your school’s office. Winter Parent-teacher conferences will be held on February 7th and 8th. You should have received sign up information from your child’s school or teacher. If you still need to schedule a conference, please contact your child’s teacher or school.
If you are unable to attend parent-teacher conferences, please contact your child’s teacher so you can make arrangements to speak about your child’s progress.
Lastly, I want to continue to highlight the Portrait of a Graduate. As a reminder, the D56 Portrait of a Graduate identifies competencies at each grade level that will build a community of students and professionals working on common goals. As a district, this year our goal is to raise awareness of the seven competencies that make up the Portrait of a Graduate.
While every school might take a different approach to raising awareness of each competency, the entire district will focus on the same competency for a period of time. Since we came back from winter break, we have focused on raising awareness of the Determined Learner competency.
You can view the Determined Learner traits for each grade level on the D56 Portrait of a Graduate website by clicking on the icon shown above. We encourage you to review the traits of a Determined Learner and have conversations with your child(ren) on what it means to demonstrate those traits.
Thank you once again for your partnership in education.
Dr. Luis Correa
