The Pool Quad will be closed Sept 23 - Oct 4
Construction/installation of a large shade structure between the building and pool will continue this week and next. The entire area will be blocked off; please plan accordingly.
FRESHMEN SUCCESS WEEK: Sept 24 - 27th
Valhalla counselors will be leading Freshmen Success Week from September 24th-27th. The week includes an academic day, a post-secondary planning day, and a gym day focused on connection here at school. Students will be introduced to the graduation and "a-g" college entrance requirements and will learn tips for academic success. Counselors will also be introducing a new college and career planning platform called CaliforniaColleges.edu and helping freshmen to start exploring their strengths and potential career interests. On the final day of the week, students will have their own club fair, where they can get connected with groups on campus. They will also be reconnecting with their Norsecrew leaders. We hope the week will provide students with some helpful tools for success this year!
September 23rd - Med Pathway Club Meeting
The Health/Medical Pathway Club is hosting its first meeting this MONDAY, September 23rd at lunch in Room 510. Treats will be provided and opportunities to earn volunteer hours will be discussed.
September 24th - Vocal Music Fall Concert
The Vocal Music Fall Concert is next Tuesday, September 24th, 7:00pm at Foothills United Methodist Church (4031 Avocado Blvd). The choir will be performing pop music from 1974 in honor of the school's opening. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for students/kids
September 25th - Boys Lacrosse Info Meeting
All boys interested in playing lacrosse are invited to attend the Info Meeting this Wednesday, September 25th in Room 307 at lunch. Pizza will be provided; see you there!
September 25th - Norse Star Luncheon
Every quarter teachers have the opportunity to nominate a "Norse Star", recognizing a student for their hard work and effort put forth in the pursuit of good grades, kindness to others, leadership on campus, or for displays of honor while facing difficult choices/circumstances.
This quarter's Norse Star Luncheon is hosted in Rm 606 at Lunch. Special Invites will be delivered Wednesday morning. Congratulations to all of our nominees!
September 25th - First ELAC Meeting
Our English Learner Advisory Commity (ELAC) is a group of parents of students who speak English as their second language who advocate for their students with all stakeholder groups on campus.
We meet quarterly to discuss issues that pertain to our English Learners at Valhalla. Please note: all meetings are on Zoom at 6 pm. You can access the link via our EL Website.
September 26th - Start Smart Meeting
Our next Start Smart Meeting is this Thursday, September 26th at 6:00pm. As a reminder, all students must complete the Start Smart training in order to park on campus. Click Here for more information about the Start Smart program.
September 27th - CSF Applications Due!
Juniors and Seniors: Applications for the California Scholarship Federation are due THIS FRIDAY!
Current sophomores can apply in January (CSF uses grades from sophomore to senior year only)

Join us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary!
Valhalla will be celebrating its 50th Homecoming football game on Friday, October 4th. The Valhalla Norsemen, under head coach Wayne Cherry, will take on the Santana Sultans; junior varsity play at 4:30pm and varsity kicks-off at 7:00pm. The Homecoming theme this year is "Golden Anniversary" and the homecoming court will be crowned during the half-time show. Tickets can be purchased in advance on GoFan.co for $11 or at the gate for $10 with cash.
Valhalla Alumni can enter the game for FREE if they complete THIS FORM by October 4th at 2pm.
Valhalla is opening its doors on Saturday, October 5th from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Bring the entire family for a picnic on the East Lawn and take a nostalgic stroll through the "Halls of Valhalla" and see how our campus has evolved over the years. Skim through old yearbooks, enjoy delicious bites from local food trucks, and take memorable photos with Mjollnir, Thor’s Hammer.
This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, reminisce about the good times, and create new memories with your family.
We're also in the process of ordering LIMITED EDITION t-shirts to commemorate the event. Stay tuned for more information about ordering.
Photo Make-Up Day : October 1st
Cherished Memories will be on campus Tuesday, October 1st to capture student/ID photos for any outstanding students. Students without current photos will receive a call slip to Rm 301 and receive their Student ID card right after their photo is taken.
College and Career Night - October 9th
Save the date for Valhalla's 2nd annual College and Career Night on Wednesday October 9th! The night will include a college and career fair, a counselor info session, and multiple presentations from college, career, and financial aid representatives. This is a great way for students to learn about their college and career options after high school. All grade levels are welcome and the night will kick off at 5pm in Valhalla's Quiet Study.
Student Attendance
If your student is absent, Attendance Notification Calls are sent out at approximately 11:30am and 5pm daily. If you are not receiving these calls, you may want to make sure the Valhalla High School phone number is not blocked on your phone.
Also, we recommend you download the Infinite Campus Parent App. You will receive notifications regarding your student's attendance on a period by period basis.
Chromebook Insurance Deadline: October 1st
The last day to purchase insurance for your student chromebook is Tuesday, October 1st. If you are a new VHS student, you can buy insurance for the 30 days after you started school. Chromebook insurance will be sold on the ASB WebStore and in the Finance Office. Once you have purchased it, you can verify your purchase on Destiny.

College Application Help
College application help starts this Thursday, September 19th! Seniors, come to the counseling office every Thursday during 6th and 7th period (once you are out of school) for one-on-one college application help! Bring your chromebook and your questions and counselors will be available to help. We're happy to review apps before you submit or give you tips on how to strengthen your application.
FAFSA Updates
The U.S. Department of Education has announced that they will do a gradual rollout of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this year, starting with a limited release on October 1st. Unfortunately, it looks like the updated FAFSA won't be widely available to students until December 1st. We will keep you updated with more information. Please note that if you complete the 2024-2025 application currently posted, it will not cover aid for next school year. Please wait to submit until the 2025-2026 application is open.
College & Career Representative Visits are starting!
Throughout the semester, we will have a variety of college representatives visiting Valhalla to meet with our students. Visits are held in the counseling office, unless specified, and students of all grade levels are welcome to attend. Just visit our College and Career Reps Visit page and fill out a quick Google Form to sign up. Students will be sent a pass to attend and are responsible for communicating with teachers regarding any missed class time/work. See below for upcoming visits this week:
