Whether it's Math 7, Math 8, Pre-Algebra or Algebra 1, our math teachers are making magic happen with numbers! These four definitely make up the right formula! Add into the mix our guidance counselor, resource officer, and school nurse, and WMS has all the ingredients for success!

In South Carolina, a School Improvement Council is an advisory council to the principal and school on issues related to school improvement. The WMS SIC will serve a very important role in assisting with the development and progression of WMS improvement and innovation as the field of education continues to grow and change. Last year, our SIC’s goal was to increase participation with the Parent Climate Survey and we were able to see a 300% growth in participation!

If you are interested in volunteering your time and energy on behalf of Waccamaw Middle School, please join us at our first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 6pm in the Media Center. During this first meeting we will review the SIC report from last year, look at the school-wide data, and discuss the elected positions.

Thank you so much for your effort to support WMS this year in the hopes that we can be most successful! We look forward to a very productive school year with the help of all of our members.

The DHEC recommended student health screenings will be completed at WMS on 09/24/24 through science classes. We will check vision, hearing, and dental on all 7th graders and height, weight, and BMI on all 8th graders. If you want to opt out of the screenings, please write the nurse a note or e-mail her at pmcdill@gcsd.k12.sc.us.

Dental hygienists are working to schedule a day (TBD) to visit WMS to do exams, cleanings, x-rays, and sealants if needed. If you are interested, please scan the QR code below or download and complete the attached paperwork and return it to the nurse.

The date for the school visit has not been determined at this time. We will share this information as soon as Nurse McDill receives this from DHEC.
