Budget: 2022-23 Audited Financial Statements
The Governing Board accepted the audited financial statements for the District and Measure R for the 2022-23 fiscal year. Education Code 41020.3 requires that each school district Governing Board shall review, at a public meeting, the annual audit of the local educational agency for the prior year. The 2022–23 fiscal year Audit was delayed due to staff turnover.
The purpose of an external audit is to provide an objective independent examination of the District's financial statements and to issue a formal report. The report includes aspects of the district's financial statements and whether they are presented accurately and fairly, in all material respects, in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. All District Funds are included in the audited financial statements. Additionally, Financial and Performance Audits are completed for the Measure R General Obligation Bond.

Resolution 23-24-08: Increase in School Facilities Fees
The Board approved Resolution 23-24-08: Increase in School Facilities Fees to allow Cambrian School District to increase charges on new residential and new commercial development projects. Cambrian School District collects developer fees on any new and additional construction of residential and commercial buildings within the district boundaries.
On February 23, 2022, State Allocation Board approved an increase of fees that may be collected by school districts was approved and on August 4, 2022, Chief Financial Officer, Dr. John Pappalardo, presented the results of the required 2022 Developer Fee Justification Study. The 2022 Developer Fee Justification Study demonstrates that the district shows justification to increase developer fees.
Chief Financial Officer, Dr. John Pappalardo, presented Resolution 22-23-01: Increasing School Facilities Developer Fees, which will allow Cambrian to increase charges on new residential and new commercial development projects.

Cambrian Arts Program Update
The Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Mr. Linh Nguyen, will provide an update on Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The update will include highlights from the 2023-24 school year and allocation of funds.

Technology: Annual Plan Update
Mr. Matt Hill, Director of Educational Technology, and Mr. Mujtaba Rauf, Director of Informational Technology, will present an update on the fifth year of Cambrian School District Technology Plan, community input, and priorities for moving forward.

The Governing Board and staff discussed the vision and direction for the Cambrian School District in conjunction with the Local Control Accountability Plan.

Coast2Coast Update
Trustee Carol Presunka had the opportunity to attend the third annual Coast2Coast Federal Advocacy Trip to Washington, D.C. recently. The Federal Advocacy Event shines a light on the issues affecting the state's nearly 6 million K-12 students and is an opportunity to advocate directly with California congressional representatives. Trustee Presunka shared about the event and what she learned.
Next Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Cambrian School Board will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in person at the Professional Development Center located at 4115 Jacksol Drive, San Jose, CA 95124 in Building 7, and can be viewed online as well. Agenda and login information will be available the week of the May 2nd meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
