A Message from the Principal
Dear Cherokee Families,
As we wrap up this first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences, I’d like to say thank you to all of the parents who joined us this week. Educating young children is truly a partnership. We value your support and conversations to ensure your child’s academic, social, and emotional needs are being addressed at Cherokee!
Thank you to the APT for the delicious dinner and breakfast for staff during conferences.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Cavanaugh

Important Information
Morning Carline Safety Reminders
- Please make sure that your child gets out of the car curbside. Staff can help students get out of cars so we can keep the line moving efficiently.
- I understand that mornings are busy, but please wait in line and not go around cars for the safety of students who are getting out of cars and walking to school.
(REPEAT) Families, view your School Portraits, and select your yearbook/class picture before Retake Day!
To view your school portraits look for an email sent to you by “Visual Image Photography”, or go to vipis.com (student ID number may be required)
If a retake picture is needed, do not select a yearbook picture. Retake pictures will be taken on Monday, October 28th.
This is only for students who have a need for a new picture or have not yet taken a Yearbook Portrait this year (all students must have a current portrait in order to appear in this year’s yearbook). Retake day photos will be added to your online image gallery and you’ll receive an email alert with new photos about a week after retake day
The final deadline to select a yearbook/class picture is about two weeks after retake day, after which VIP will choose a yearbook image for you.
Halloween Candy Collection- Drop off extra Halloween candy in the front lobby to donate to Fill a Heart 4 Kids by November 8th!
Halloween Parade: We are excited for our Halloween festivities: costumes, parade, and class parties on Thursday, October 31st. The Halloween Parade begins @ 10:45 am. Please see the flier below for details. We hope you will join us! Please remember these costume parameters:
No gore or blood
No weapons
No masks
Children must be able to sit down
Costumes must not be distracting to learning (we reserve the right to ask a child to take off a costume if it is districting the learning of themselves or others)
G2G Ornament Workshop
The district’s Gardening to Grow program is excited to host an ornament workshop on Tuesday, October 29th, from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM at the DPM Garden Pergola (rain location: Northcroft Park Shelter). Participants will be creating dried floral holiday ornaments. Drop-off and parking will be available in the east lot. We’re looking forward to a fun and creative event!
