JUNIOR NEWS & INFORMATION!
PSAT/NMSQT TESTING
All Juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) on Wednesday, October 16th during A & B Blocks. The test which is a College Board standardized test gives students an indication of how they are likely to score on the SAT. The PSAT score report provides in-depth information regarding a student’s strengths and areas for improvement, as well as a customized plan through Khan Academy to strengthen any areas of need.
Students who score well on the PSAT/NMSQT may be eligible to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program and compete for national recognition and a wide variety of college scholarships.
The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered digitally on the student’s MHS Chromebook. Students will need to make sure they come to school that day with a fully charged Chromebook as the exam is 2 and ½ hours long. They will take the exam during the first two blocks of the day and will not be marked absent from their classes.
Click here for detailed information and resources on the PSAT/NMSQT
On the October 2nd early release day, juniors will have an opportunity to login to Bluebook, the College Board’s digital testing application and become familiar with the testing features. They can also do a short or full-length practice test if they so choose. Please contact your child's guidance counselor if you have any questions.
All Juniors will attend an advisory on October 2nd to familiarize them with the format of the PSAT and to login to the Bluebook software. Juniors will receive reminder emails prior to October 16th and should plan to check their email and Guidance Canvas page for room assignments/testing locations.
