Leader of the Pack
We have THREE leaders to recognize this week!
-On the first week of school "at the bus line, Culley helped a new student who was crying because he was scared. Culley sat by the new student and told him that he would be his friend and help him on the bus."
-Piper "is always picking up trash on her way to school. Every morning, she comes to school with both hands full!"
-"A new student came to our class and Emmy took initiative and helped her log on her Chromebook without me asking."
Way to lead with spirit, pride, and honor, kiddos! This type of character makes the world we live in a better place for everyone, and teachers just happened to catch these demonstrations of character which are definitely worth a shout-out to the students and their families!
Academics + Character = Successful Leaders!!!!!!!!
The School-Parent Compact
Our compact was developed in collaboration with stakeholders and currently reads:
As a school, we will:
Provide a high-quality effective learning environment that is safe and that enables the student to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards
Provide ongoing two-way communication between teachers and parents through parent-teacher-student conferences with frequent reports to parents
Provide reasonable access to staff through an “open door” policy
Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s school activities
Provide a mutually respectful relationship between all parties (students, parents, teachers, and volunteers)
As a parent, I will:
Support my child’s learning by ensuring that he/she has proper rest and nutrition and attends school on time and on a regular basis
Support my child’s learning by reading with him/her at least Monday through Thursday nights
Help set a positive tone for learning with my child
Participate in decisions relating to the education of my child through a mutually respectful relationship with school staff
Provide a mutually respectful relationship between all parties (students, parents, teachers, and volunteers)
Support my child’s class/school (i.e. communicating with my child’s teachers, helping in class/school, attending school events when possible, etc.)
If you have ideas to contribute to this compact, we want to hear your thoughts! Please email your suggestions to aohair@burnetcisd.net. Feedback received before August 29th's parent night will be considered for the 2023/2024 compact!

Attendance Incentives for SGE!
SGE's ADA for the first week of school was 97.07%!
We're going to "STRIVE FOR 95!", but we also know that "98 IS Great!" We recognize that illnesses and events take place that necesitate absences, however, we do encourage every student to be in school every day he/she is able. Let's work toward 98%!
BCISD information related to attendance can be found by clicking here. To recognize students and families who make responsible attendance a top priority, a committee of SGE teachers have created the following plan:
- Attendance Leader = student with no more than one absence OR one tardy for the six weeks (excused or unexcused)
- Attendance Leaders will receive an attendance Brag Tag for each six week period the designation was earned.
- Each six weeks is a clean slate and a new opportunity to earn the Attendance Leader recognition.
- Attendance Leaders will be recognized at 6-week assemblies held at school. A special reward (such as extra recess or picnic lunch) will be planned to follow each assembly.
- A glow Atten-DANCE will be held at the end of the school year for students with six or fewer absences or tardies for the whole year.
- Students with Perfect Attendance for the entire school year will go on a trip to McDonalds for lunch!
- Classrooms will track days of whole-class perfect attendance for classroom rewards!
Parents, please know that we emphasize attendance for numerous reasons with the most important being that regular attendance has a direct correlation to higher achievement. Check out some school attendance facts from attendanceworks.org:
- Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
- Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade or be held back.
- By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
- When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
