Weekly Devotion
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Have you ever really wanted to do something you knew wasn’t a good idea? Maybe your brother dared you to sneak a cookie before dinner, or you thought about skipping your homework to play video games instead. Those moments are called temptations. These are times when we’re pulled to do something we shouldn’t.
Everyone faces temptations. You’re not the only one who feels tempted. It happens to all of us! But God is faithful and He is always there for you. He won’t let the temptation be too big for you to handle. God gives you a way out! It’s like He opens a door to help you say “no” to the bad choice and “yes” to the right one.
Imagine you’re walking home, and you see a big, shiny pile of candy on the ground. You’re tempted to take it, but then you remember it’s not yours. Your stomach says, “Yum!” but your heart says, “That’s stealing.” Right then, your friend calls your name and says, “Hey, let’s go play instead!” That’s God giving you a way out, a chance to walk away from the temptation and do something fun and good instead.
God knows life can be tricky, but He promises to help you. When you feel stuck or tempted to do something wrong, like arguing with your sibling or sneaking screen time, ask God for help. He’ll show you a way to make a better choice, like taking a deep breath or praying. Next time you’re tempted to do something you know isn’t right, stop and look for God’s “way out.”
In Christ,
Pastor Schneider
