EDHS Community Update
Week of Oct.
Miners in the Spotlight
Orchestra - La Joya Middle School and El Diamante High School orchestras presented an incredible fall concert.. The performances were truly outstanding!
A special thank you goes out to our talented orchestra directors, Torrey Scrafford and Ricky Avila, for their hard work and dedication in guiding our students. Their passion and commitment to the music program are evident in every note played.
SAVE Day - National SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Day was observed on Wednesday, October 23. In recognition of this important day, we invited all members of our school community to wear orange as a symbol of solidarity against violence. The EDHS Associated Student Body (ASB) distributed orange ribbons to promote awareness.
In addition to the ribbon distribution, the ASB provided vital information and resources regarding violence prevention, which were displayed on bulletin boards throughout the school. A dedicated table was set up during lunch to engage students with the SAVE Promise Club and encourage participation in ongoing initiatives.
Each homeroom received a proclamation, and we encouraged teachers and students to prominently display it on doors, walls, or windows. This initiative allowed students to affirm their commitment to the Say Something program and National SAVE Day by placing their hand on the designated area surrounding the proclamation.
Armed Forces Week - During Armed Forces Week at our high school, recruiters from the Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, and National Guard visited during lunch. Interested students had the opportunity to engage with the recruiters, ask questions about career options, and learn about the benefits of military service. This event provided a valuable chance for students to explore paths they might consider after graduation.
Character Counts -Jordan Mata has been recognized as a student of character. Below is the article from the Visalia Times-Delta.
EDHS Band - At the Selma Band Review, the EDHS Band earned a Bronze medal in the parade and a Silver medal in the field show. Last week, our band placed 4th out of 10 in their division and outperformed four schools in higher divisions with our overall scores. We are incredibly proud of our band!

Principal's Pride
Last week, we celebrated National SAVE Day, highlighting the importance of safety and advocacy within our community. Additionally, Military Week brought recruiters from the Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, and National Guard to our campus, offering invaluable insights into military service. It was wonderful to see our students actively participating in both events. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to our Haunted House. It was a tremendous success, filled with creativity and teamwork, and it truly brought our community together. I felt immense pride witnessing our students' hard work and enthusiasm. Our Haunted House will be open on Sunday night and Halloween night from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
