Principal's Message:
Greetings Colts Community,
It was another great week in Colt Country! We are in the last week of the 2023-24 school year and we have a lot to celebrate! On Friday, June 7th, we say farewell to our 6th graders and wish them much success! The year flew bye so fast! I vividly recall meeting every single one of our 6th graders on August 16th, 2023, and telling them to enjoy every single day because in the blink of the eye, the year will be over! Well, here we are and we are so proud of all of your accomplishments!
Our Kinder teachers will be celebrating with their students and families in their own classrooms! They have a day of celebration, fun, and food planned for the day! Parents, remember to bring your tissues as your babies are growing up and headed into 1st Grade, and on to the big playground! Cheers to a successful year!
Last Tuesday, our TK and 6th grade classes entertained the school and their parents with an encore performance of their play titled, "Where the Wild Things Are!" Thank you to our AMAZING teachers Mr. Guzman, Mrs. Milton and Mrs. Bennett!
Also, last Tuesday evening we had 7 students from Bonsall West Reclassify as Proficient in English, and are now officially Multi-Lingual Learners. Congratulations to Jonah Parra, Luki Hornwood, Sadie Louchios, Ariel Lopez Lopez, Gianna Mendoza, Viktor Matijevic, and Ethan Gomez! Thank you to Mrs. Carcamo and Ms. Yadira for all of your hard work and inspiration for our scholars!
Also, last Wednesday, we celebrated as a Colt family for working extremely hard on attendance during testing! Every student earned an Otter Pop for doing their part to get to school every day and on time! I want to challenge you to do the same the rest of the school year, so we can have the best attendance in the district! Also, please try to stay the entire school day as well! We appreciate all of your efforts as you support learning everyday!
On Friday, our top Sock Fundraisers, TK and Kinder classes, celebrated along with the top four (4) AR students in each grade level, Super Soaked the teachers, staff, and Mr. Camacho! It was a very wet afternoon and I know they all had a very good time throwing water balloons and soaking us big time!
Lastly, on Friday, Bonsall West Athletics showed up big time at the Tomlinson Games, held at Bonsall Elementary School. We are super proud of how you represented our Colt Family, not just as athletes, but as great role models! Go Colts! Thank you Mr. Stark and Mrs. Milton for your work at the Games!
As always, scroll down to our Colt's in Action section of the newsletter for pictures!
ATTENTION:
To ensure a smooth and safe drop off in the mornings, please do not leave your car unattended or wait to long after your children get out of the car to exit. We want everyone to have enough time to get to class on time each day.

E-bikes continue to be a concern on campus - All visitors and students are expected to walk your bike or e-bike on campus. Helmets are required so please be sure that those on the bikes are correctly wearing helmets. Parents/Guardians, it is still being witnessed that older students are riding their e-bikes with younger students on them who are not wearing helmets. Safety is extremely important to the entire Bonsall West community. A big thank you to those of you who are walking your bikes and e-bikes on our school campus.

COVID Test Kits
Bonsall Unified School District has supplied two COVID test kits per student for our site. If you would like you, the parent or guardian, may pick them up at Bonsall West Elementary. These COVID tests are provided to you as a courtesy. Testing is not required by our district.
Although we are excited to have your child attend school every day, when your child is sick, we do ask you to keep him or her at home. Specifically, if your child has tested positive for COVID, he or she should remain at home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test (if asymptomatic). Your child may return on Day 6, unless he or she remains sick. Masking upon return to school is not required by the District.
We wish you great health as we know the cold and flu season approaches, and encourage you to place special attention to taking practical steps to boost your student’s immune system by providing nutritious food, proper amounts of sleep, and good doses of exercise.
Community Partners
The Leader in Me
At Bonsall West Elementary School we are focusing on the Leader in Me to build lifelong leadership skills.
We want our students to focus on the 7 habits:
1. Feel empowered to be proactive and be in charge of themselves.
2. Set goals and begin with the end in mind,
3. Focus on work first then play with put first things first.
4. Have an abundance mindset and think win-win.
5. Listen to our peers and seek first to understand, then be understood.
6. Work collaboratively and synergize.
7. Have school work/life balance and sharpen the saw.
We have a couple of resources that explains the paradigm shifts and habits that we focus on and will get them to you soon.
All students will attend a BWE expectations assembly this week. We will review schoolwide expectations/rules and answer any questions.
