Principal's Message
Thomas Families,
Third grade is a big year for students. Maybe the most visible change is the move to the second floor! Third graders are officially “big kids” in the school, and with the second floor comes great responsibility. This is the first year for standardized testing, there’s certainly a higher expectation for independent work, and friends are starting to gain more and more importance compared to adults.
But third graders are still just 8 and 9 years old, which means they do really like school, and impressing their teachers, and being silly. In fact, our third grade teachers (Ms. Almassy, Ms. Knepple, Ms. Nguyen, and Ms. Turnow) say one of their favorite things about third grade is how they are a delightful mix of mature and playful, independent and engaged. Here’s to our third grade students and teachers!
Go Tigers,
Melissa Garris
