Upper Allen Elementary
School Community Newsletter October 4, 2024
Mr. McIntosh, Principal of Upper Allen Elementary
Next week we will hold our Bingo Night on Friday. We will have two sessions of Bingo with the first beginning at 5:30 PM and the second session at 6:45 PM. Seating is limited so please register below.
I would like to thank the parent volunteers who helped to make picture day a huge success. Volunteers assisted students in getting ready for their photos and helped monitor students waiting in line. They even helped those our reluctant smilers to say cheese!
We had our October Community Meeting today and learned about a new word, "courteous". During the month of October students find fun and creative ways to be courteous to others. Some may even earn a Power Paw and have their name read on the morning announcements! Be sure to ask your children about being courteous.
The Upper Allen Family Newsletter is distributed via email about every other week during the school year. The parent contacts in the Sapphire portal are used to generate the email lists to send out the newsletter.

Covid guidelines have changed. If your student has been exposed, tested positive, or experiencing symptoms, please review the respiratory virus guidelines.

If you have questions about whether your child should attend school due to an illness, please contact our school nurse.
Unity Day
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. We want our students to have the courage to be UPstanders. An UPstander is someone who recognizes when something is wrong and acts to make a change. One way we can all be UPstanders is to participate in Unity Day.
Unity Day was started by PACER’S National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011. Our elementary school will be recognizing Unity Day on Wednesday, October 23rd. We want to come together as a school community and show that we are UNITED for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. What a powerful way to send a unified message that we care about student’s physical and emotional wellness and that all students belong here at MASD! We hope all of the students, staff and families will join us in wearing the color ORANGE on Unity Day to help us make a bold statement as a community.
Students will also be working on positive pumpkins during Unity Day. Check out our Positive Pumpkin Patch when you come in for parent teacher conferences.
**This event is being sponsored by your Elementary Student Assistance Program
