Homework Help starts soon
This after-school program will start on 10/21 and will run on most Mondays and Thursdays. Students may work with MAMS teachers until 4:05 to complete homework, work on projects, study, etc. (afterwards, students may be picked up by an adult or take the 4:15 late bus). The program will be limited to 60 students/day and students will need to sign-up daily to attend Homework Help (similar to sign-up for the late bus). Attendance will be on a first come, first served basis.
Reminder about required immunizations
The State of New Jersey requires students entering 6th grade to receive certain immunizations in order to attend school. Without these immunizations, students may be excluded from attending school. We must have a physician’s documentation that your child has received these vaccinations for entry into school. Students who do not comply with the above requirements will be excluded from school as of October 15, 2024. Please read this MAMS immunization letter #1 for details and contact our school nurse, Mrs. Saul, with any questions. Nurse Saul can be reached at 732-705-5507 or via email at ssaul@marsd.org.
School pictures
School photos will be taken Thursday, 10/17, and Friday, 10/18. This year, students will have their photo taken during Science class (not during PE) so please plan accordingly. Picture forms will be distributed to students during Advisory tomorrow. If needed, the retake date for pictures will be 12/16.
Student survey
Students will have an opportunity to complete a voluntary survey tomorrow, 10/10, during Advisory period. This brief, anonymous survey will be used to collect students’ input about class offerings, learning styles, supports, extracurriculars, and more. Students will use their Chromebooks to take this survey and learners' feedback may be used to help drive future decision-making about various school topics.
Halloween fun
Are you ready for a spooky season? This year, we will be holding a Halloween costume contest for students and staff! Students may wear costumes to school on 10/31. Please make sure to follow the below guidelines for any costumes. Also, remember that 10/31 is a 4-hour day and MAMS learners will be dismissed at 12:10.
- Costumes must be appropriate for a school setting. Avoid any offensive or inappropriate themes, symbols, or language.
- Ensure that costumes are safe. Avoid sharp objects, trip hazards, and excessive makeup which could impair vision.
- No masks or face-coverings may be worn on campus. This helps to provide a safe learning environment for all building occupants.
- No real or prop weapons. This includes swords, bats, pitchforks, and other similar objects.
- Avoid distractions. Costumes should not be overly distracting. Avoid excessive lights, noise, or other elements that could disrupt classes.
- Keep it rated PG. Costumes should be appropriate for our students' ages. Students may not wear costumes which violate the dress code or contain overly mature/explicit themes.
- Have fun responsibly. Students should enjoy the Halloween spirit while respecting others. Doing this will help contribute to a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
